Do kids Still Go Trick or Treating as Much as They Did Years Ago?

Where I was living 4 years ago (and SHOULD STILL be living!!), we'd her a few hundred!! I suspect a lot of them don't even come to my place, for some reason but, I'd get 3 or 4 bags of candy to hand out and blow through nearly everything I had in about 2 hours!! WELL over 100 pieces of candy!!
Up here, where I am, now, my first year here, I got ONE little girl about 3 years old!! The next year, I don't think I got anybody!! I bought 3 bags of lollipops and had to take them all back the next day because nobody came by! The next year, I got maybe 4 kids all in one group. Last year, I had 5 in one group! I still have the lollipops left over from last year!! At least those won't go bad from one year to the next! I'd even be inclined to buy 4 or 5 bags of candy and give each kid an entire unopened bag!!
I think that Covid sort of killed Halloween. I used to get over a hundred kids on Halloween. The last few years maybe 20 -30 kids. More for me.
I think it depends on the neighborhood. I just recently moved and the neighbors already warned us that Halloween is big around here and to buy lots of candy because the kids go nuts. Other neighborhood didn't have as many kids so guess it depends on the area
Good to Know It's Still Around, @Apple1996 xx
Mine doesn’t-we have a Halloween party with a lot of her people. We have a “haunted forest”, with “scary” monsters, and a lot of theme stuff nearer to the house. Parents are invited to stay and join in the fun. Trust me, there’s plenty of candy, and sweets.
Beautiful, @KatherineJ My Kind of Halloween. xxoo

In the past 10 years I think the most I've had in a year was 8-11 kids. Last year I was at my parents house for Halloween and I think we had maybe 6. This in the house I grew up in, where we used to get 50 or 60 in a night.
That may have to do with the neighborhood turning into a retirement area as a lot of the same people live there but their kids have grown up and moved away. But even at my apartment where there were a lot of families I didn't have any more than that.
So I would have to say no.
No, not as much as they did when I was a kid. There are school celebrations/parties now and not all kids go trick-or-treating on Halloween. When I was a kid, we went out 4 straight nights and probably covered 100 houses. Now, kids only go out one night, for maybe an hour or two.
We always gave out the large candy bars and our house was remembered by some of the kids for that reason year after year. We received about 70 to 130 kids a year as did our neighbors. It could swing by wildly from one year to the next without explanation it seems.
We moved a year ago to an area where we don’t get trick or treaters but our adult children give out the full size candy bars at their houses now and have at least 60 kids come.
There are. Not many kids in neighborhood anymore. But I'm just not into it anymore. I keep all lights off so they'll skip my house. Sometimes it works. Others don't care they'll knock anyway. I just don't answer.
I might put up a sign that says "covid house stay away"... lol. Sorry people I'm just not into it.
Lol...
Kids yes once you in highschool you honestly just to old to go trick or treating just go to a house party instead or something like that also last year we had something with people lacing the candy with drugs and stuff so it’s not worth the free candy
There are still kids doing that... But not as much as they used to do. I can't tell why that is but if I have to guess... "Safety issues".
Also slowly all traditional things ( Easter bunny, Christmas) disappear. Sadly...
Yes it is... Traditional " things" belong to the culture. It Devines who they are...
I like October fest.. 😄 Is a real German tradition.
not here where i now live, they do the trunk or treat though a bit
Is that your decorated car? That's really cute
They do here! We always run out of candy and have to shut off our lights and turn kids away at the end of the night.
It’s fun, that’s for sure.
Well kids still go trick or treating but no one really comes to my neighborhood because not many people pass out candy like last year I think there was only one person in my neighborhood passing out candy
Seems to get bigger every year here in the UK but it depends on whether you are poor or rich and what class. My road not a single house does it, the road round the corner almost every house.
Perhaps Covid or sex offenders killed it off.
I think that they do but it seems like in much smaller numbers, which is very sad. I personally love it and we did it when we were kids.
Not many. They all go to certain "safe spaces", like at malls or venues specifically for kids on Halloween these days.
Nope. Too many kidnappings and child trafficking networks. Crazy people putting fentanyl in candy.
Not in my area they don't. I hand out full size candy bars. I used to go through 6 boxes of 35 bars. Now I don't even go through a box of 30. They took 5 bars out but kept them the same price do to inflation.
I grew up in Los Angeles and we would walk for miles door to door as far as we wanted to trick or treat. Then the first incident of people putting razor blades in the chocolate bars occurred. End of Halloween as we knew of it.
Yes, but now they shoot the homeowners if the candy is not good and burn the houses down! 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
We get about 15-20 on our tiny little street.
Our church holds a Trunk or Treat, and kids get enough sugar from that to hold them until next year!
Yes. Depends on the neighbourhood. I’m ready for 180 kids and consistently get in the region of 150-170 (need to have some chocolate for myself 😉😂)
I'm out in the middle of nowhere and they still find me LOL. I usually get about 40 or so.
depends where you live obviously... some places are more friendler than others
i live in philly and they don't have it... but it still goes on a small scale... like if you have kids and the treater's kids come they give out candy
Kids still go trick or treating, but not as much as years ago.
I don't think so. I wouldn't want MY kids doing it. They could get gunned downed or fentinaled. Or pedophiled.
Not as much as when I was much younger. It is a shame that you need to X-ray the candy to make sure there is no razor blades in it or hope that someone didn’t poison it!
I don’t see many by me, not many kids around anymore, young couples with kids can’t afford to live by me, they have to move out of state
Yeah, the middle class can’t afford to be here anymore since the taxes are higher than the mortgage payments per month
i'm uncertain as i don't go outside on Halloween because people are literally insane now.
Karen's and Ken's. lolxx
We get tons of kids every year.. Ill sit by a firepit in the driveway handing out candy to the kids, shots to the adults
You rang?
Due to the current times and twisted minds, I don't think so
I don't know. I am usually working Halloween night.
It all depends on their neighborhood where some are safer than others
I don't know if its the godless society, social democracy or women controlling said society. Prolly all three at once and many more.
Not so much
But still do
Just accompanied
I know that me and my wife are definitely going to get dressed up for Halloween
yes i do lol im 5'2 so i pass as a little kid lol
Not so much since they put dangerous stuff in bags look out for Feternol now
Now I think they do it online nowadays.
@Sasha0426 I was giggling the second I started typing.
