**It cac Be Yours and/ Or Someone Else's. xxoo
My parents were meth addicts but surprisingly still decent enough parents. The addiction though made them inconsistent. They would be doing well until they starting using again and we would lose everything. It happened a few times in my childhood. I don't remember how many schools I went to. Now my parents are divorced and I don't talk to my dad because he left my mom for another woman. They both still continued to struggle with substance abuse to this day. Many of my family members have been addicts, alcohol, meth, heroin. etc. My mom's youngest sister, of four siblings, died at 43 due to alcoholism and her liver failed. Then a year later my dad's youngest brother died, 44 years old, he was trying to recover from substance abuse, alcohol and meth, and had a seizure and died. My dad's baby sister is dying of liver failure, and heart failure from substance abuse. I left an extremely abusive relationship of almost 12 years, 4 years ago. I'm currently struggling, not falling into the family history of substance abuse. I started drinking and, thankfully I stopped before I become chemically depending on it. I have so much more dysfunctional stories I could write a book. Lol.
My parents never loved each other, me or my sisters. I don't even know how they got together. I spent my whole childhood seeing them fighting.
When my mother decided to leave my father, he became a psycho. He would follow her everywhere, he used to threat her saying that he would kill her. They went to court several times. Not to mention that police was at our home countless times too. It was a nightmare!
@exitseven That's the right thing to do. I would do the same if I had a family.
My family was pretty dysfunctional. I never saw my parents kiss. I do not know how my brother and me ever got born. They fought often and got divorced when I was in high school. My father married someone much younger ans started a second family my brother and me were his ex kids. It was a total shitshow when I had to invite both of them to my wedding. My mother actually called my future wife telling her that we should just elope
Is their such a thing as a functional family?

I am not quiet sure how to approach and describe a dysfunctional family. Serious lack of communication that would affect the family function and with severe negatively impact, that could cause detachment, lack of emotional support.
The aspect of this can vary from society, cultural variations and norms, different country different paradigms.
I had this dysfunctional family whereby my dad was working and my mum was doing small businesses but my dad always complained of not having money and he would really get mad at my mother for asking for money for maybe our fees or rather other needs and when my dad retired, his pension money disappeared and we have never known where he has always been taking his money, as a result of that we had to struggle so much especially my mum and my older siblings.
Early in my life, my brother was an evil man addicted to drugs. Fortunately, he turned his life around. Now, I have a pretentious sister in law with lazy husband and a 40-something year old virgin unemployed son who are extremely envious of her sister (my wife) and me for both being successful and wealthy and much loved. My parents and my parents in law hate each other. Every attempt my in-laws make to upset my parents lead to my mafioso-ish parents causing very damaging consequences to them and that’s making my wife and me fight a lot.
Voted on unanimously by my wife, kids and me, we will just escape to our usual vacation destination in Mexico where none of our relatives can bother us. We’ve done this for Thanksgiving before and enjoy it a lot.
I went to my grandfather’s burial and there was only about 5 people there. I knew one of the two men talking to was mother was her brother, my uncle, but literally had no idea which one was him since I only met him once when I was like 5. Same with my aunt. I have a cousins I’ve never met and would have no idea if I pasted them in the street.
My mother was originally my father's side mistress.. He was married with a house full of kids living in the projects. She found out because he stole her car and was looking all over the city for it. He did drugs so I heard. I have 22+ siblings only 2 of which are my full siblings. I don't have grandparents because my father's "father" was a rapist, and I never knew my grandmother on his side.. Only met her once. And my mother's father died of alcohol poisoning when she was 3.. Her mother was Schizophrenic for almost her as well as mine entire lives.. I don't think she even knew my name.. Hardly knew who I was.. But that was probably from the meds.. I only had my oldest sister's grandmother whom I considered my own. My sister's father took her to Atlanta where she died on cancer and nobody ever got to have a funeral for her because he wouldn't let it happen.. He kicked my sister out of the house she left for her and other things. That's just half of it.
Wouldn't know how to start that book. But I do know that premiss would be how the siblings put things on each other because they don't want to deal or want to do things. Also help each other in dying need.
Plenty of them but I don’t know any at the moment, mine is good right now
Texting my toxic family until I blocked them all. Never felt better.
Just the idea of doing this seems intimidating.
My father raped my sister when she was three. I have amnesia from when I was three and worry that I may have also been a victim. What other reason would a three year old have total amnesia?
That is very sad.
Ehm well my dad is kinda indifferent my sister is weird I don't really understand her because she never let me be close to her and then she left early on. And me and my mom are all good :)
Father very distant
Mother with boundary issues. Overly close.
Just me and my love life
I can't talk about it
Dysfunctional sister, dysfunctional nephew
