Girls, do you NEED guys to have a great relationship with their mother?

If he hates his mother and his mothers a good person. Then I get it. If he’s disrespectful to his mom just to be.

But it’s not really fair. Some people have bad childhoods. Some peoples mothers were abusive, ran off, or did anything. You can’t expect someone to have a good relationship with their mother if it’s out of their control

I don’t mind if he has a horrible relationship with his own family. I’d hope he has a good one but that’s his business. The thing that matters is that he has to at least get along with mine or tolerate her and not run his mouth belittling her or anyone of my close family.

That’s true. But it’s easier said then done for some families. I agree a woman I planned on being with long term would need to get along with my family. Unless some members of my family were being unreasonable. I would do my best to just keep them away from one another.

No. No one is obligated to have a relationship with anyone. It’s your choice. I’ve dated guys who have very close relationships with their parents, and I’ve dated guys who haven’t spoken to their parents in years. Makes no difference to me as long as whatever trauma their parents have inflicted onto them, has been worked through or is at least being worked through. I wouldn’t date someone who takes out unresolved trauma on me as their partner.

Yeah true and if someone doesn’t accept you for who you are. Why even bother with them?

Now working through trauma. Sure taking it out on thier partner is another story. Partners need to be nurturing and loving to the other person. Especially if they plan on getting married.
