Do You Believe The Way A Man Treats His Mother Is How He Will Treat His Wife? 👈
"In my opinion, respect for women starts with your mother boys. If you treat your own mother like crap and she's a good mom to you then you will probably treat all women like crap and that's just not what I would consider "husband" material"

This was a very emotional post for me and I am glad you all were respectful and helpful with your feedback. 😇
I wanted to just offer my condolences and deepest apologies to anyone who does not currently have their mother in their lives. I am blessed to have a healthy mother and father in my life and I am taking a road trip to see them on the East Coast this summer. I've been missing them terribly since I moved to the West Coast.
So fun, new, and nerdy bathing suit and travel pics coming 🤓

I do quite a bit. While there is a stigma for being a mama's boy, there really is something to be said about losing a parent. With losing my father couple years back, it's made me not want to take my mom for granted. It's assuming, it's my parents... no matter what they do, they will always be there and it's not the case so I'm soaking in as much time as I can with my mom.
It's so crazy to imagine me being alone in the world without parents... It's one thing to think about it as a figurative future but once it happens it becomes really real.
I think it's nice when you lose a parent because it helps you to wake up and really spend time with the other while you still have time too. Given we want both parents to be alive but as a sliver lining, it's good to see the value in your parent that you still have.
All that to say, I value time with my mom and spent with my mom. I'm not perfect, I do disrespect her at times, it happens 😅 but overall she desires and wants to be with me as much as I can and so I'm hopefully doing something right 😂 but I try to lookout for her and do what's best for her.
I hope that I can carry that into my relationship, to be able to care and love another person like that
In my opinion, there's nothing sexier than a mommy's boy or a guy who is okay with a woman providing and taking care of them without it hurting his ego and pride.
Thank you for unblocking me! I really hope we can start over on a new page, and that you are have been doing alright in this time.
Honestly, I've been very guilty of not being really respectful to my mother - admittedly I haven't been respectful of many people. But I'm changing that now. It's true that she abandoned me and she hasn't really been the ideal mother, but what's in the past is in the past and since she's really making an effort to be close and loving to me now, I don't see why I shouldn't return the effort and respect and love her. We have been talking a lot lately and have started to grow fond of each other and respectful. She did some bad things in the past but I do see that her heart is in the right place and she really wants to make things right, so I don't want to waste the opportunity and grow back a healthy relationship. After all I too did my share of awful things and I'm getting forgiveness by many people I've wronged - both on G@G, including you and many others - and IRL, so I should give back all the good things I'm getting.
I am glad things are better for you! And I don't hold grudges so no worries. This was fantastic feedback and thank you for explaining your answer. Also thank you for sharing your personal experience on this topic. I appreciate it.
Thank you for your kind words and encouragements, I wholeheartedly appreciate them! I'm happy you have such amazing parents, I wish you the best on your road trip to visit them!

I thought I was at the time (when I was a kid and youth), but in retrospect, I should have been more respectful on a few occasions, and those occasions stick in my throat worse than a bad batch of kale! I'm glad that those youthful outbursts were few and far between. You don't realize what you have until it's gone. Her spirit lives within me, though. Backstory- At her wake, I found out that tat one point she was going to Hollywood to singing and piano gigs. I knew that she was an accomplished pianist, and later organist, but I never knew that she was going to make a career of it. She gave up a lot of her future to marry and raise a family. I just wish that my parents were a little more explanatory at times, since there were several things (non bad) that I discovered after they both passed. So, respect the people that deserve your respect while you are both there to share that respect.
Yes. My mother was there for me when my father wasn't. She endured a hellish childhood of abuse, raped as a teenager, & abuse by my father. She did not let those experiences define her, instead she built herself up, became a nurse (all her patients loved her & thought she was a blessing), & did everything she could to raise me up right when my father wasn't there. I had to learn the other half of life on my own because I didn't have a father figure growing up but as for my mother? She did her job & now I take care of her when she needs me, it's the least I can do.
it depends on the mother some mother's only care about themselves and just use there child for personal gain respect goes both ways not a 1 way street remember treat others the wsy you want to be treated being verbally and physically abused by both parents there is absolutely no need for that then ask do you respect them would you respect them if they were physically and mentally abusive too you?
Respect is an interesting term to use. I love my mother, I listen to her, I'm kind of glad I don't have to deal with her any more, though that was always my dad's job. I was always grateful to her that she gave me the freedom I wanted in life, since basically forever. She would usually remind me, whenever I said that, that she did so because she saw that I never abused that freedom. Is that respect?
My mother was my best friend, until she passed away. I did typical teenager shit but I never could lie to her. She raised three boys on her own, when everyone told her to give us away, because she was ill. I have more respect for her than anybody that has been in my life. She worked hard and taught me what self love was and I could not ask for more.
This was beautiful and very heart breaking. Thank you for telling your story and I am very sorry for your loss. I offer my condolences. She sounds like an amazing woman 🙏
Thank you. it was a long time ago, but she was an amazing woman. I am 5'11" 200 _ lbs , she was 4'11 and 105 and She was the only person I ever feared. lol
I have a large amount of respect for my mother. My mother had a shitty marriage and she had to take care of me and my brother a lot. But now, she is divorced and has truly become an independent woman. I am so proud of my mother.
Thank you for sharing your experiences and story! She sounds like a amazing woman. Thanks for explaining your answer.

Well my mother is no longer with us but I respected the hell out of her. I also think if you see a man treating his moms poorly then you might be in for a rude awakening down the road with your own relationship. Good question.
I agree with this statement, I also have found that if you see how your SO mother is, that is how your girlfriend or wife will likely turn out. My ex turned out just like her mother, who is a horrible person.
Yes, I respect my mother and love her dearly, not just because she gave birth to me, but also because she's a lovely woman who I'll always be grateful to have in my life. And yes, I believe it's important to take notes on how your love interest treats their surroundings, from a waiter all the way to family and friends.
I agree. My mother was a phenom. She raised 7 kids with very little help from my dad. She wasn't a good cook, but we didn't miss a meal. She wasn't perfect, but she kept a clean, disciplined home. She is and always has been a God fearing and gentle soul.

A man should every girl with respect because a man should treat his mother with respect. Here’s a good rule of thumb for the men. Treat every girl as you would treat your mother.
Yes I respect my mom and I try to be respectful of her when she visits. And I once read for a woman to watch how a man treats his mother is how he will treat you. My dad used to beat my mother when I was very young
That's why a man will always respect his mother regardless the history because it's a learnt virtue to be a better person everyday and it shows true character in men
@Romeo201 I am sorry if you had to experienced this tough situation, It would be nice if you can forgive. If you can not forgive it's also you right.
I am not defending the mother who did that but may be she was/is an addict. It's also not an excuse but if for those who can forgive are emotionally very strong.
I was answering t-8900 questions but your not to far off I had experienced the lesser side of life as well and it was easier to forgive but not forget and walk away as respectful civil adult
@makriks I have forgiven but I do not forget and I do not trust her. That's the difference. Is it really respect? I wouldn't say so. Respect is earned. A parent abandoning their child is not a person I can respect regardless of my own lived experiences. You have a kid, you take care of the kid. Simple as that. You wanted the kid, you got the kid, the kid didn't ask to be brought into this world, the kid looks to you for help and guidance. It's the ultimate betrayal, to do wrong to your child.
@t-8900 again, I am very sorry for what you have lived & experienced, it's very difficult for any human being so I can imagine, how it's tough for a child. I am not defending her but addiction is a mental disease and I guess she was not fully conscious or even half conscious, when she did what she did.
It's you right not to forgive her, but if you somehow find the power to do so. You will feel way better
I am literally speechless, ... I have to be honest and say while typing this message there is tears in my eyes right now. There are no words I can write will describe the feeling of sadness that I feel right now. I wish I can hug you and tell you it's not your fault. Rejections hurts a lot especially from the closed one. Even thought I don't know, I will pray for you. I wish you find happiness and reach all your goals. Keep good care of yourself.
I don't know ab the follow up but yeah I respect my mother a lot. I’m not even gonna pretend I could do what she does. I mean, I’m a student freaking out about school and she’s super nice and laid back while putting like 5 kids through college. . .
Absolutely. She passed away years ago but I still miss her. She was a great mom and I have great respect for her. All my friends in school thought I had the best mom.
I offer my condolences 🙏 I hope you've had some success in healing since her passing. Thank you for participating on this question and sharing your story. I appreciate it.
My Mother and I had a tough time when I was a kid. When I grew up, I was able to see her with all of her strengths and weaknesses. I love and respect her so much.
I don't know how much I did last time I've seen my mother was when I was 7 years old she died when I was very young and I miss her dearly mother day sucks
My mom made a lot of mistakes while I was growing up, I don't want to go into detail, but I will always forgive her no matter what she does because at the end of the day. She's my mother.
When she's nice yeahWhen she's a bitch. No... I'm. very reasonableNever respect a bitch guys, don't be a simp.. Even if your mother wants you to beWere not door mats
Maybe read the question and focus less on the picture so you don't have to leave anonymous nonsense. This is so not relevant to my question it makes me think something is wrong with you... 😱
Yes I will! I called my mother last night and just made sure she was okay and happy. She's been having a hard time in her marriage to my father so I just want to be able to support her emotionally while she transitions into retirement from work. Thank you for participating on this post. I know that couldn't be easy losing a parent. I never want to lose mine. It would absolutely destroy me. I'd fall apart.

You were extremely brave! That's extremely heroic too! A great man!
Answer: No
You wouldn't respect her of course but you would show her courtesy still cause two wrongs don't make a right

@makriks she wants addicted to anything. She was completely sober. Not an addict, not an alcohol abuser, just didn't want me.

@makriks she wanted a daughter, not a son. She got that and she was gone.
Totally understandable. I was very specific in my question... "IF" she was good to you. Sorry for your hardships. Thanks for the honest feedback
