if your woman (Who you met after the situation) proposed that she start giving financial support to your widowed sister in law so that you could focusing on supporting and building your own family (Hypothetically imagine that you don't have adult kids or even teen kids and have either not had kids as yet or have babies).

And yes this is a matter of traditional preference of the woman.
