Lol… I remember my dad kind of lived by that. He always believed friendship shouldn’t end because of money, so if he had it, he would give it and expect he wouldn’t get it back. Is that reasonable or would that ruin a friendship of yours?

+1 yYes. My buddy recently got divorced and is getting on his feet. He was a little hard up, so I gave him some money to get him through. Knowing this kid…. I won’t see it back, lmao. He probably kept his electricity on, got some food, and then tried to gamble the rest playing poker. He did bring it up to me once, that he hadn’t forgotten. It was supposed to be a month or two but this was during the summer, and I haven’t seen a dime. Not expecting to, never really was. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if he pays me back, put it that way, lmao. But he’s a good kid whose biggest flaw is just not really ever having his shit together. That makes you kind of a fuck-up, but not a bad person. He’s a good dude, he’s been my boy for 25+ years, so I got him, regardless.

25 years of friendship is amazing! I honestly don’t know of anyone that has had that long of a friendship, as far as still staying in touch with each other. I appreciate how nice you talk about him. Everyone needs help once in awhile.

It is! I have a whole crew of probably like eight guys I mostly met the first day of college, and we’re friends to this day. I see some more than others these days, but when we’re able to catch up, it’s just like old times, we don’t miss a beat. Now with texting, it’s easy to just have a group text and say in almost daily contact. This friend I lent the money to is the “keep in touch” guy, he’ll even track down more fringe members of the old gang once in a while, so he’s great for not letting people get blown away in the winds of life. The rest of us probably would care enough to make the effort, haha, so he’s special in that regard. For all of his faults, he’s a good times guy, and the faults aren’t usually of consequence to any of us, so he’s a made man with me.

That really is amazing, you seem like a great friend! I have some good friends also, but I don’t know if they’ll be around 25yrs from now. Girls are a little different when it comes to keeping friends. 😂😂
- +1 y
Haha, thanks! Being a good friend is way easier for guys, I think. We have low demands and low expectations. Be cool to hang out with, and don’t do us dirty. That’s really about it, lmao. I’m remembering an old Chris Rock joke where he said women get rid of female friends every six months…”What happened to Pam?” “PFFFTTT…she think she cute😒”, lmao. But yeah, to your point, I’m not sure how close all the ladies who were in our circle stayed.

I hate being in the position of loaning friends money. While they are seeking a loan you are the best friend they've ever had. As soon as they get the money and the debt that goes with it you become the enemy. I have rarely had the debt paid and received a thank you for helping them out. Instead I've been avoided, made to feel like a jerk for having to remind them of it. It's like the quickest way to gain an enemy and I hate feeling like a shit heel asking to be repaid what they were previously telling me they'd be forever grateful. At the risk of trespassing on some personal boundaries I wanted to tell you that I think you are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. It took me a while to realize that you weren't ( I do not believe) photoshopped. You have absolutely perfect features and I am absolutely gobsmacked when I see your photo. I hope you don't take offense at this but I thonk it is truly remarkable how insanely stunning and desirable looking you are. by the way I'd also love to read your story though I don't think auto-biographies are supposed to be fictional. I'd be fascinated to learn how being such a beauty has affected your life.

@Makeushiver I appreciate it, thank you. The pic of my dog and I were professionally done. In highschool I had a few photoshoots and became friends with the photographer, so, when I was moving out of state and unable to take my dog, she offered to take some pictures of us 😊 She did an amazing job! My pfp was taken by my boyfriend at like 5:30 in the morning lol I got up with him before he went to work and was cold, so I went and got a sweater to put on and he took it without me even knowing. I liked how it turned out. The only thing that annoys me, is there's a piece of thread or hair on my sleeve! Drives me nuts! 😂😂

That’s my attitude, for the most part. I only give someone what I can afford to give, so I’m not gonna be hurting for money if they decide not to pay it back.

I appreciated your answer! It has to be tough asking for help but even tougher facing a friend you owe money to! I liked Wally’s opinion to but when I told him a couple days ago I was sick with Covid, he sent me one of these “😂”, so I sent him one of these “🖕”! Lol!

+1 yDepends on the money. I lent a friend 50k one time. There was a notarized contract involved. I've done a few grand a number of other times. That I want back. I lend you $10 because your card got declined when you're traveling and you're trying to cash out at the bar, that's not something I'm hard pressed to get back.

Yeah, I’m not talking thousands, I’m talking a couple hundred at the most or what you can give without it affecting your finances if they don’t pay it back. The most I have given was 200 to a good friend. I could afford at the time and she did pay back a little over 100, so I realized I wasn’t going to get the whole amount back but I went in expecting not to get it all back. If that makes sense. 😂

+1 yI have a sister that needs money every now and then. It’s never a lot but it’s every couple months, so I basically give it to her and listen to her say, “I’ll pay you back as soon as I get paid. I promise”! I know she won’t but it doesn’t bother me, because when I give it to her, I know she won’t.

How are you feeling this morning?

Better, thanks for asking.
+1 yI think of it as charity in some cases. However, it’s a one time deal! If you don’t pay me back, that’s fine, I won’t end a friendship over it but if you ask for money again, it will be a “no”, then it’s up to them if they take no for an answer.

1 yIt just depends on what it is and if I have the money to give. But if someone thinks they’re entitled to what I have forget it.
I know some people also will give someone money once not expecting it back but they will never give it to them again

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yI've lent money to my "friends" since elementary school and did not get them back. I've even lent a flash drive because a friend wanted to copy particular files. I did not get it back. I would just feel frustrated each time I asked and my friend said they "forgot."

I think that motto is a good one to live by. I'm not that way though. I would pay the person back like I would pay any of my debits.00 Reply- 385 opinions shared on Family & Friends topic.
+1 yI got a slightly different version that says you can only trust people to do what's in their nature.
If you lend money to a friend who's bad with money or selfish, you really only have yourself to be mad at if they don't pay you back

1 yIt depends on the friend. A good friend of mine GAVE ME about $4200 6 years ago to help keep me from losing my house. I lost the house anyway but, even though the money was a gift, I intend to pay him back as soon as I can!
00 Reply 1.2K opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. That's just my typical motto when loaning someone money I don't expect it back I mean it's nice if they are able to give it back at some point but I don't expect it especially family or close friends.
