Mom is angry I want nothing to do with niece?

My niece behavior has been nasty and we don't get along. She's 15 and I have tried ti push her in the right direction and nothing has worked. I'm living in a new city with my fiance now and I don't care for this family drama. My older sister is the mother if this niece and they both don't like me. Why does my mom think I owe my niece gifts or money?

If it is that toxic, it cannot work because it does not feel genuine. If she doesn't like you, she also wouldn''t value your gifts.

Having said that, try not to break your bond with your sister. Any tension with kids should impact the bond of elders. It becomes really painful in later life.
