Trending & News In my early 20s, when I still lived with my parents, we had a family pet, a Sheltie, named Joshua (Josh). We had him since he was a pup and he was a really good boy.
One day, when he was old, he collapsed. I picked him up and laid him in his bed. He died as I sat beside him.
I cried my eyes out.
My wife and I have had 7 cats in the 27 years we have been married. We still have two.
Our first one was a kitten that I rescued moments from certain death from the white line of a busy highway just a couple months after we got married.
I brought her home and we named her Rose (Rosie). The vet said she was 5 weeks old at the time.
She decided to adopt us as her mommy and daddy and turned into the best kitty ever.
We moved three times with her, the last time into our own house where she lived for over 17 years.
We always kept her indoors because we didn't want anything to happen to her. She was our little girl and we loved her dearly.
At almost exactly 22 years old, she passed away peacefully as I sat next her on the sofa.
I cried so hard.
We buried her in our back yard in a box, wrapped as if she was sleeping in her favorite blanket. We put a perfect red and yellow rose from our garden in the box with her.
Over time, we rescued four other older kitties from a local shelter, two at a time. We let them out during the day to hunt mice and voles in our garden. When Kiri and Sofi both passed, we got Tinker and Cassie. They were all wonderful, sweet kitties. Kiri, in particular, was a wonder cat. She was like my faithful dog.
When each of them died, my wife and I both cried. They are all buried, in the same manner as Rosie, with honor in our back yard. And all their graves are marked.
I never got depressed, but I still think about those good girls, especially our Rosie.
I had to have my cat euthanized a couple of years ago. We took him home and I dug a hole in the backyard. We wrapped him in his blanket and buried him. It was raining nd my wife and I stood there in the rain crying.

Still to today in fact. Even though it's been about 3 years, has not lessened at all. It's really bad
