Are parents who make their own child hide their affairs the worst parents ever?

Out of the many horrible cheating stories I've heard is the one about a parent making his/her child hide the affair, lie to the other parent and at times even bribe the child with money to keep their silence. This puts the child at risk of having their relationship destroyed with the parent. More fathers than mothers actually have disowned the child for that reason.

Honestly, even as an adult I wouldn't know what to do if either of my parents were to tell me to hide their affair. That must be a horrible position to be in. If you hide it because you're scared of breaking a family apart, you're a betrayer. If you don't hide it and tell the truth, you're still a betrayer of the cheating parent. Regardless of whether the child tells the truth or not, he/she still had to take sides.

Personally, I think any parent that not only cheats on their spouse but gets their own child involved too (knowing very well they're affecting the child-parent relationship, putting the child at risk at getting disowned) are the worst parents ever. I actually think that's cruel.

Personally if I was the cheated on, I would still love my child even if they hide the father's affair and got bribed for money. The parent is the pure evil character in that story.
