Facebook group organized a picnic near where I live. Host/friend didn't text me to make sure I saw the group invite. Continue to join group or leave?

Group usually meets at same restaurant each week for dinner, but reminders are posted in the Facebook group anyway. I went last week, but didn't bother to check the Facebook group this week because I thought I'd be too busy to drive all the way there. Then later I decide to check the page, and realize that they were all meeting for a picnic near where I live! Why didn't any of my friends text me to make sure I knew about that?

I want to ditch that friend group, but feel like it's just a microcosm of what I'd experience in any other group. Plus there's often new people who join.

But am I overreacting for being offended? I don't want to continue wasting money on dinners just to spend time with people who don't care if I'm there or not.

How big is the group? If it is small it is practical to contact. If large not possible.

Possibly you are reacting too strongly and they might be assuming everyone is glued to facebook cause they are. I'd defer the decision and re-evaluate later.

Yes, I mean, they usually go to the same restaurant, in the same part of the city. So if the setting changes, especially since it's right near where I live, they should have said something

I mean you might be busy but if you're part of an online group, I'm sure they expect you to know this and not have to be told. I think it would be different if it wasn't an online thing

I've always been alone, I've never had a friend, I've never had a girlfriend, and I've never been in love in my life. I studied with bad people in high school and university. Spoiled people who use everyone for their own benefit. I'm 22 years old now. I look hopeless towards life and I'll be alone for the rest of my life. I'm sure, God, there are a lot of people for those people. Why didn't he give it to me when he was presenting it to them? Those guys beat the girls and cheat on them, but then they lie to the girl and she trusts his word. But I would never do that, if it got cold in cold weather, I would never hesitate I would give my coat or my jacket or my cardigan, I would always be with him. Why did God curse me with loneliness?

Don't go. If they didn't invite you and they'll miss you being there, that's their fault. My mother used to put on a high school reunion picnic every summer and had a huge list of everyone that should be invited every year. A few months before, she'd do some research to find out of any of the alum had moved so she'd know who and where to send the notices that there was gonna BE a picnic.

If this is the first and only time it's happened then I would just let it go. If it happens again, then I would likely look for another group.

If your primary means of passing information revolves around the group boards online - they probably just expected people to read it and hop on. It sounds like you're taking it a little too personally, if they didn't want you there they would have blocked you from being able to see it
