1 yPretty much never. That’s kind of the good thing with dudes, there’s very little drama, haha. I think we also have extremely low emotional support usage for each other.
One of my good buddies’ dad just died. You do the obligatory “let me know if there’s anything I can do”, but I’m not going to go over there and talk about his feelings with him, haha. Kind of just gave a quick “I know how you feel, it was a tough blow when my mom died”, etc, but I don’t get deep with him.
I guess there’s one friend who will try to talk about problems or his perception of life, and I’ll listen and kick it with him a little, but I think emotional support just isn’t my forte. I’m a good times guy. For hire for weddings, but not for funerals, you know?
So, I think with the nature of our friendships being rooted in watching sports, fishing, enjoying weed lmao…it just doesn’t lend itself to arguments. There’s only one friend that ever gets mad at people (I blame him being Italian, lmao), and he just gets situationally mad at people or events, and he’ll throw a hissy fit, but I usually don’t get involved, and I don’t tend to piss him off, so it’s never directed at me.
I have to get really pissed to even raise a complaint, so I just don’t generate any drama. I only have huge outbursts when I play hockey, but those are more violent/attempts at violence, I’m not trying to verbally argue with anyone. It’s usually because there was incidental contact and the other guy gets pissy when I wasn’t. Rejection of my attempts at peace is the number one route to violence for me, lmao, I just lose my shit if I’m being cool and the other guy isn’t.
Verbally…. there’s nothing to really be gained in an argument. It’s either at a point where you’re getting rocked or it isn’t. Rocking somebody sends a message and prevents future trouble. Just arguing with them and leaving them unscathed doesn’t accomplish anything. And in the case of friends, if you snuff somebody, that’s usually the end of the friendship. Anything that doesn’t rise to that level of offense, I’ve got better shit to do than verbally spar about it. It’s kind of like “let’s either bang out or drop it”, and obvious in the case of friends it’s usually not that serious and you drop it. I don’t have a ton of in-person female friends these days, but I don’t put hands on women, so the only remaining option is “drop it.” What I look like arguing with a woman?😂
Basically, the only way to get argumentative behavior out of me is to push me over the threshold, but I only have “Off” and “Hi” when it comes to anger settings, there’s no “Med” or “Lo.” Arguing is for “Lo” and “Med” mad, and I’m just not wired to be in those emotional zones.

I read your update , and 100% respect your point , you are busy enough without putting up with that.

Otherwise, while we all have open discussions to air out issues, we tend not to argue. I personally don't enjoy arguing in general and have walked away from folks who love to generate drama and trouble.

Re Update: Sorry to hear that! :(
It happens, though. I lost a few single friends when I became a mom, but I lost one of my fellow-mom friends once bc I was super busy juggling stuff and she was “maintained” with a nanny, housekeeper, hubby who paid for everything… and complained I wasn’t making time for her. 🙄
She’s self-centered and no worth your mental or emotional investment. Stay cool. It’s her loss. - 1 y
Yeah it’s the same scenario where her husband helps her a lot and she has a lot of free time where I truly don’t and recently have committed to investing more time to myself
1.3K opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. like never. i know one of them is very opinionated, so i keep all opinions to myself (can barely talk about anything, i know...) because i don't want them to start a fight. if it did, i'd just agree to disagree and move on. but them? absolutely not. their opinion is always correct and factual to them lol

1 yNever, I was always the one who shut down fights with my friends. So when I left town my friend group broke up which I thought was funny, since I was the only thing holding us all together. Though my friendships are always pretty shallow since I never would talk about anything private with them and wouldn't ever ask them for anything besides hanging out, since I don't trust people like that.

Anonymous(18-24)1 ySounds like you can recover that relationship.
I don't have to many friends these days but I have one who I argued with a lot. He was always hot headed anger issues. About once a month we would have an argument if we spoke everyday. We are still friends but haven't spoken in months always been kinda on and off since we moved.

Hey, in your profile picture, is that rhinestone, or is it just an effect/filter to make it look like you're wearing something rhinestoned11 Reply- 1 y
I was wearing a rhinestone see through top and in regards to my tongue it’s pierced
Low key once. It does sucks and it’s heart breaking when friendship ends. Maybe give her some space and reach back out to apologize & grow in those areas to be a better friend.

1 yLike once every couple of weeks, but it’s not like real arguing. We got in a fight once about whether or not bagels counted as bread because the dough was boiled in water.

1 yA DV situation? I have because I won't agree with someone if they are wrong if I show them evidence too I just don't know why someone wants to argue when they are wrong, I think they just should expect it and move on I won't agree 😆

It's not cowardice, it's hopelessness in the face of a disappointing and many times, cruel world. Not the right answer by any means, but they need help and kindness more than most.

And I let her know to ask for help and from someone they trust like friends or family
1 yMost of our “arguments” are philosophical or political, but it’s all in good faith. I don’t think we’ve ever gotten in an actual heated argument.
