Would you ever adopt a monkey as a pet?

They’re so social and honestly do best with other monkeys and stimulating their brains in the wild. As cute as they are it’d be so sad for me to take one away from what makes them happy and fulfilled. They NEED that grooming and bonding of the family 🐒 not “hi cutie” from humans 😂 it just doesn’t register. And there is just so much said and expressed in their facial expressions and body language that they’d just simply feel alienated with us. Like smiling for chimps doesn't mean happy and for baboons it means tension. Staring can be threatening, so imagine an owner staring at their monkey in awe and smiling. That monkey will be freaked out! 😂

Coexistence is way better than captivity and sometimes even domestication. That’s just my opinion though.

I had a pet chimpanzee when I was little. Apparently my grandpa caught some smugglers and he gave me the chimp to temporarily take care of. Ended up caring for him for almost 2 years before my parents decided to give him away to a chimp sanctuary - honestly, that was the best option for everyone.

Not unless I'm getting a whole lot of them and have a proper playground for them. Monkey's are designed to be in groups, their habitat and social structure is very important.
