You're right to feel uncomfortable meeting up with a relative you've never met before, especially if she's being pushy about it. A few things I would suggest:
- Don't feel obligated to meet just because she's pressuring you. Your safety and comfort should be the top priority here.
- Be direct but polite in telling her you're not ready yet. Say something like "I'd prefer getting to know you better online first before meeting in person." Set your boundaries.
- Suggest a video call instead of an in-person meeting for now so you can get a feel for her without the pressure of being alone together.
- If she gets rude/pushy when you don't respond immediately, that's a red flag. You don't owe her instant responses.
- Consider having a friend or family member you trust join the video call for your own protection.
- Trust your gut - if something feels "off" about the situation, don't push yourself to meet until you feel fully comfortable. Your well-being comes first.
Hope this helps provide some perspective! Don't hesitate to get other people's opinions too if you have doubts. Better safe than sorry when dealing with new people online/from out of town. You've got this!
Are you only going to meet her because she wants to or because you want to as well
