Nope. I had friends from three different states.
Two schools and a college. Cut them out of my life. And in a steady way. Two girls I met in high school were very anti social and closed off. One got split up from her only bestie and the other had just moved there. I befriended them in different parts of the day and eventually introduced them. They blossomed and eventually I pulled away more and more as they grew closer to each other.
I made sure everyone was comfortable and confident in themselves and getting along with the others in friend groups I was in before I departed.
I didn’t ghost them or anything of the sort. Also those were all in person. The same was so for online friendships. For me it’s just easier to focus on myself. Especially when I need to focus on stabilizing and being responsible instead of just being irresponsible. Could I balance it? I suppose. But I’m not a big multi tasker and more of a perfectionist. Also felt like I gave more in those friend circles than I received back. Different levels of people. 💯

In my definition, buddies are not friends, and e-buddies can only be buddies as I view them physically unable to do what friends are expected to do lol. But they can be great buddies/comrades obviously.
Friends, meaning people I can count on, 24/7 for any reason, I have 5 of them

Only one that comes to help me a few times a month, others that are friends but almost never show up at all. Nearly all the other friends are at the other end of some extremely long wires.

Let's say about 10 friends irl. Like people I do talk to and hang out with occasionally. A handful of friends I talk to everyday. And online also a handful who I can talk to everyday.
Like real hand in the fire kind of friends? A handful.

I wonder which category "friends you knew in person who moved away but you still hang out with often online" fit in? I have 2 friends I see in person on a regular basis, 2 I saw a regular basis and now hang out online with, and about 8 I've only ever met online (though 3 of them I went to school with, just had different friends until after we all moved to different places).

I have a friend who we have been texting for 4 years, she is a virtual friend I wish I had more friends, but I don't see it happening.
30 Reply No, not many. I can only befriend someone I trust and I can't trust half the world.
30 Reply2K opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. Too many really, but most live far away so I have a good excuse to skip many social engagements.
30 ReplyThere is absolutely no such thing as a virtual friend , you either have a friend or you don't , if you haven't met them , they do not exist until you do.
10 Reply3K opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. I do not. Some have moved away and some have died. I have a picture of myself with 3 guys I grew up with. We were at the beach when we graduated from high school. I am thr only one left.

I have a lot of friends who live within a close drive. I have friendly acquaintances online, but to be a friend I need a deeper connection.
