What do you do when your friend has not paid you back?

So last year, my close friend of 8 years and I went to a concert together. We got last minute tickets that we could not afford at the moment, so that’s one thing but times are hard and we wanted to have fun lol. With money, I am more reliable than her, though she makes more money than me. I got the tickets under my name using affirm. In the past, she has used to pay off services like affirm and klarna, but because she has not paid things off on time with them, they had blocked her from using their services until she fixed her credit.

We have finally hit the last month where we have our last payment. On my end, I only have $40 to pay while she has $60, but for about a month now she has been giving me the runaround about how she doesn’t have the money yet, in which I have been lenient and understanding. I really don’t want our friendship to end over $60, so I think it will be best for me to just pay the money myself. However, I do expect to receive the money back at some point. Last week she and I were consistently talking and having a conversation in our text messages, until I asked her if she had sent the PayPal to me because I hadn’t received an email about it. And the reason why I asked about PayPal is because that week she said she would PayPal me and t tell her the total. After two days of receiving no email from PayPal, I thought I’d just text her. But now I’ve been left on read since Friday.

It sounds like you’re being taken advantage of. If she can’t manage her finances and is avoiding repayment, it’s fair to assume she may not care about repaying you. Since you value the friendship, pay off the balance if you must, but set a clear deadline for her to pay you back. Don't let her irresponsibility undermine your financial stability or your relationship. If she continues to make excuses... you know what to do.

Just accept you lost your $60. And be happy if she ever pays you back.

Learn your lesson and never lend money to other people. It can turn seriously bad.

I don’t pay for anything to do with them again. If they want to go halves on anything i decline. I’ve had friends do that too. Some friendships have ended over it. I had one friend who still owes me $600, I gave up getting it after the 50th excuse.

That kind of stuff ruins trust you have for a person. I feel that she will give me the money but it still makes me not want to do this again unless it’s in her name the next time

I don't lend money to friends. If they need help I'll give it to them.

Well it wasn’t a lend, we both owed even amounts of money for our concert ticket. The loan is in my name. I’ll just pay it myself tho; I won’t be doing this again
