Has someones significant other ever ruined your friendship with them?

Say your friends with someone, then they find someone who's totally toxic to them, doesn't like you either, and prevents them from hanging out with now. Wonder if they ever come back around say if they break up. Opinions? I bet this kind of thing happens a lot. I was friends with this guy long before he met her too.

Yes, I had two friends, a guy and a girl that got together. I knew they weren’t meant for each other but I let it go. There was a second girl who I thought was my friend decided to stir up some drama by telling the guy I was jealous of his relationship (I did have a slight crush on him but I never acted on it) and he got mad at me for just liking him and being allegedly jealous. I was so confused. Luckily my girl-friend wasn’t upset with me at all. A few weeks later she broke up with him due to incompatibility, which was my suspicion and she apologized for the drama she caused. I told her it wasn’t her fault. Her and I are good but that guy hates me now. He blocked me on everything and I’m also no longer friends with that second girl that started it all. It’s been almost 10 years since then and from what I heard he is dating that second girl now so I kind of have an idea of why she picked on me.

Somewhat, yes. I had a friend who had a habit of picking very shady, dangerous, criminal men as boyfriends. She wanted us all to hang out together and I became extremely uncomfortable around these men upon getting to know what they were like, so I began avoiding her and them altogether and she got pretty upset with me. We did stay friends after their relationships eventually ended, but not for long, as she just randomly cut off all contact one day. As much as I wish the best for her, I also see that as a good thing, as she was one of those people who found herself in trouble everywhere she went and was attracted to some very bad people, and I think she could've very easily put us both in dangerous situations.

Yeah, my friend always seems oblivious to the toxic traits and red flags early on that everyone sees but him. He never bothers to ask my opinion.

Yes, I went through something like this too, it was disgusting, then my relationship ended, I'm even happier. I'm glad it's over, it had to end, that person was the reason.

He was never a person to let himself get pushed around, so I don't get it. I just have to find other people to hang out with in the meantime. Maybe he will get a divorce one of these days
