Have you ever had to end a friendship? What led to that decision?

Yes, a number of times. Most recently, my 2nd girlfriend. When I first met her, she was my guitarist's girlfriend and I later found out she'd been with the drummer I replaced before going with John. After nearly 3 years, I talked them into getting married. About 3 weeks after the did, they split up over a really stupid argy bargy. 2 weeks later, she & I went for a walk, she broke her foot and asked me to stay with her because she didn't trust crutches. After 3 weeks together, we became lovers. A few months later, she went back to John. About 23 years later, John died and we got back together for a couple weeks, then we went back to just very close friends. At this point, I was flat broke, as was she, and I was living off the change I'd find every night at the drive through windows at the mall. One day, I went to her place and she mentioned some stray cat that she'd been feeding and asked ME to give her.58c so she could buy cat food for that cat the next day! I don't think I had a dollar to my name so, I'm NOT ABOUT to waste what little I have on a fucking stray cat that, most likely gets fed by various other people like her and doesn't need HER cat food!! She got pissed at me for not giving her this money and started yelling and swearing at me, calling me nasty names so, I left and refused to talk to her ever again!!
A girl I met in college in `85 invited me to live with her because her place was across the alley from the campus, whereas my house was a 20:00 bus ride and 10:00 walk away from campus. I stayed with her for about a month, or so. In early Dec., she went to New York for a few days and it got really cold here, about 6 hours west of NY. While she was away, she asked me to take care of some plants in the apt. I did just as she asked. When she came back about a week later. She discovered that there were plants outside on the window sill that were left out in the cold and they froze. She never even told me those plants were there!! But, she got pissed at ME for letting them die! How can I let something die that I didn't even know existed? So, she was supremely pissed at me and just wouldn't stop carrying on about those plants so, I left and never talked to her again!!

Yes all through out my teen years I had a best friend. . we did everything together his dad owned the business building gas stations I worked there for over 25 years well there was two places in town like that I used to go back and forth LOL if I didn't get a raise but anyway and just one day he started interfering into some of my business

And I just lost all respect all trust for him so I just went my separate ways

For 5 years later he came back into my life but it was never the same I just still didn't have any trust or respect doesn't mean he was a bad guy just once I lose respect for somebody I just go my separate way

I ended a bunch because the maturity wasn’t there. The respect, the values, and the goals were not there. They didn’t invest in me and my life as I did them. There really was no investment from them. The type of children who just take take take.

Anyways, one friendship got complicated and I had to end it simply because it was drastically toxic and bad for my

mental health. Dude was a Danny downer.

It varies… but it can be things like their friendship is no longer serving where I am in life nor align with my values/views, lack of respect and empathy, envious that leads to mistreatment, poor treatment towards others and/or me, and so on.

Yes we didn’t talk as much after high school and she slowly just thought she was better than me even though her parents paid for what she has, she started being snooty and I finally said hey good luck to you

Yep. The guy was a bump and user. Plus he always stole my lighter everytime he stopped by.

Expected me to provide the transportation, beer, food and crap like that. Borrow 5 bucks here 10 there and never pay it back.

Yes. Because their values no longer matched with mine. We reconnected after about a year. We used to see each other about every single day - it's currently once every half year, works for both of us.

Over my life, many friendships have ended. Usually, it's because one (or both) of us has moved away. Sometimes, the reason we became friends is no longer valid.

Yes. I am almost certain he cheated on his wife, abandoned his kids, supported BLM, went back to partying with alcohol and drugs, and votes democrat.
