It seems like you can’t even talk to any young adult without them mentioning therapy terms like “trauma” or “Gaslighting” “projection” and let’s not forget “narcissist”. I get that people have experienced things that hurt them and coming to some awareness of what that hurt was and what it caused them is great but to some extent it is almost like they just enjoy being the victim. They enjoy the attention they receive for being “damaged” or “ruined” mentally and emotionally sometimes even physically but they’re so into themselves that they don’t even realize people are worse off than them and you can’t even tell because they don’t talk about how sad their life is. They walk around with a smile on their face and joy in their heart and they’re probably battling cancer. Yet, here most of them are complaining about trauma from their childhood because their mom or dad failed at giving them enough validation or love when it’s likely that wasn’t done intentionally by their parents. At some point, I feel like this generation just needs to find a new way to cope. Pray, talk to Jesus, find a hobby that doesn’t involve social media (I feel that’s a big reason to all this depression and anxiety). Young people don’t get out enough anymore. Social Media is there reality. So if social media’s reality is “Trauma, depression, anxiety, suicide etc etc etc) then they’re mentally programmed to negativity. When the reality outside of social media is that if they were to go for a walk or to the library or to Starbucks to sit for a cup of coffee, that happiness is not as rare as social media has made them believe.
