What was the answer from your parents OR to your kids when they wanted to redo / move furniture around / paint the room? Have you been on both sides?

Were you hailed parent of the year or they still hate you said no? Do you have fond or awful memories from your parents response?

Was the entire exercise a lesson in labor, basic shapes & math for them? Family economics & budget? Did they / you push for new carpet or furniture too? Did they / you cut a deal for the privilege?

Oh, and this: Why aren't ALL plugs FOR EVERYTHING flat / flush so you can put furniture against a god-damned wall? WHY? Any electricians here?

I come from a family of artists. My mum was actually super cool like that. She let my sister and I paint all over the walls. And yeah why wouldn't we be able to move stuff around?

Likewise that attitude passed to my kids... I've lost count the number of times one of my daughters moved her room around. She also put like red "blood like" hand prints over her wall once. Not exactly pretty... but meh. Why would it bother me?

When I had a landlady to worry about they weren't allowed to draw on the walls in the main areas of the house. But bedroom still yes. I mean, I would fix it all up before moving out (which I did).

As a teen I painted big characters on my walls like comic book style. Ha... even at my age I have a life size Gambit I painted on my wall just last year. So, guess I'm still doing it lol

My mum.. she doesn't paint on her walls but she likes decorating with unique things.

Same here. When i dormered n we all moved upstairs we let the kids use our old MBR as a hockey room and they blasted out the sheetrock walls, checked each other through the walls and FUCKED that room up! So much fun!!

I just used what my parents got me. I had a mattress where the springs were poking through and wall to wall carpet that had a hole worn through it. My father got me a desk from somebody that said it fell off a truck.

My parents let me redecorate as long as I did the work. No kids, so no other side of the question.

Really. He built it, and once when talking with the two (mom&dad), I leaned against the door jam from Den to the kitchen, and he roared for me to get the fuck off his walls and " what are you low class "?
