Do you subconsciously filter yourself to avoid being cancelled in life
I generally do not say things that would get me cancelled in life, but having worked around kids for like 8 years, it was a requirement to filter yourself. We couldn't even have visible tattoos or "unconventional hairstyles." If you had walked into the staff room though, it was like a bar after 2am. I remember this one summer, they tried to allow junior volunteers (high schoolers) to eat lunch in our VERY adult staff room, and some whiny baby complained about the language to their parents. Cut to, they were instantly banned and had to eat elsewhere because I told them, there was no way I was going to force my staff who actually worked there, on their breaks! behind closed doors! to not swear or talk about adult things because some temporary volunteers had issue with it.
I mean regardless of what anyone says we probably all do to an extent.
Like if there's a customer/client/whatever at the place you work with an absolutely ridiculous looking hairstyle, most decent people wouldn't go "damn bro your hair looks like absolute and total shit!" People would keep it to themselves.
I do agree that a person might not filter themselves when having discussions with others, but if we all said exactly what we were thinking 100% of the time non-stop the world would probably be an even harsher place.
I myself just try to read the room in terms of how I edit/filter myself. If I know I'm around angry people who get aggressive and violent when someone disagrees with them, I will filter myself. If I know I'm around nice people though, I probably won't filter myself.
Subconsciously? No, it's completely intentional, ranges from basic politeness to elaborate diplomacy, as well as empathy.
Otherwise I would run into constant misunderstandings if I didn't adjust to whoever I'm talking to, people are so different, my relation to each people is personal and I feel much better when I'm understood
No because I have social skills due to having a social life. A lot of people on here you can tell Don't have friends, a social life and self esteem issues because they get offended over everything then start making multiple accounts to harrass you. Those are the mentally unstable insecure people of the world that no one accepts or wants to be around in society and they're often rejected. Also, the people who just who make up random lifestyles for themselves or just randomly start trauma dumping on you without u asking them anything are socially awkward

I do. Realistically, I have to.
I live in Britain. One wrong word, and my ass is in jail.
Secondly, it's about choosing your battles. I could get into verbal battles with guys in pubs, but honestly, it's not worth it. Cast not pearl before swine as they say.
Thirdly, a lot of what I think is quite radical and offensive to the unthinking majority.
Plus, I work in a bitch office with lots of people who gossip and can't keep their mouths shut. You have to be at least somewhat savvy. I wish it wasn't away, but you have to be practical here if you want to earn a living.
Having said that, I'm one of few people who didn't mask and spoke up during the scamdemic.
Ohh yes , constantly , and that's a normality I learnt here , no confrontation , when there is a problem ( which there is all the time ) the Western approach is utterly useless , its all about how you express things , and never ever an ultimatum for example.
I have no filter really but I do take a time out and would rather just keep my mouth shut in to get caught up in something that somebody wants me to get caught up in I'll just say one or two things and that will be it I'll just look at them or I'll just walk away it's not worth it to me
EVEYBODY filters themselves. That's why people aren't walking around in real life saying things like, "Wow, you have huge boobs!" or "I took a dump this morning that looks just like Tim Walz!"
Although now that I think about it, people say that kind of stuff all the time on social media.
But yes, I filter myself And so does just about everyone else. Be grateful for that.
People who speak without filtering like to think they're being clever but in reality they're demonstrating a lack of forethought. It's not a question of fearing cancellation, it's a matter of showing respect.
I usually don't have a filter. However I'm not naturally a person who aims to say stuff just to be controversial and purposefully offend someone. I'm not an antagonistic person from the start.
i find myself in a situation where i have to avoid people to not cause insecurity or drama with people i dont know.
Are you that antagonistic?
i dont think so, its a work thing
What kind of work
But it is so that the other person does not feel bad, whether someone keeps me in the group or not, it does not make any difference to me.
Generally, I don't, but there are always exceptions. Some people just can't handle opinions they can't deal with.
In private life no, but on jobs I try to keep my dark humor and sarcasm in check.
To some extent... If I'm feeling something negative, I don't want to just spew my negativity out into the world, right?
Usually I do since I am much meaner in my head than in person..
Sorta forced to. Nothing is without consequence. Can do anything you want. Just gotta pay the reality of it.
Yes, or course. Anyone who doesn't will me making a jerk of themselves on a pretty regular basis.
Sometimes, usually around kids and old folk, but other than that, seldom.
Yes, I usually do... especially when it comes to girls.
Nope
