Mothers that actually let their partners harm their children, do they suck as mothers?

If the boyfriend or husband has already been abusive towards the child more than once and the mother is just standing there, doing nothing... do you think she sucks as a mother? I'm tired of hearing about those neglectful mothers in the news. Watching someone beating your child and doing nothing is already neglecting your child and enabling it.

As an expecting mother, I can't imagine (not even my parents... no one) watching anyone hurting my child and doing nothing. I picture myself getting in between and fighting like a pitbull till the very end (even if it meant getting hurt in the process) and getting my child to safety first.

I actually have no sympathy towards anyone that watches their child getting hurt and does nothing.

and still keeping the child in that horrible environment is neglecting their safety, the opposite of loving them.

In some cases it's necessary when ur child needs discipline to prevent something even worse than being hit, if it's the only way for them to learn what's right from wrong, to raise a good person, it's needed.
Balance is needed too 👍🏻

You can raise someone into a good human and discipline without objects to hit them.
I'm referring to actually cases of beatings and the mother is just standing there watching. Pathetic excuse of a parent.

You don't necessary prevent crimes just because you used the belt or paddle.

There was a horrible case on the news about a woman's boyfriend that beat and rape her child... and the woman did nothing, just stood there watching but did nothing. Right in her face.

There r redlines for everything of course, raping is something else it's a horrible crime. I was only talking about using power in amounts r suitable for a child to understand what they did is wrong, nothing more or less 👍🏻

then that woman that stood there and watched her own child getting beaten and raped, doing nothing to stop it or intervene is no better. She sucks as mother.

Any woman that stays with a guy like that is an idiot to begin with.

Exactly. The more I hear about them on the news, of not only staying with him but keeping their child in that harmful environment, the less sympathy I have for them.
Several of those women that even have a supportive network (some actually came from loving parents) and have easy access to get help and get away... still stay in that bad environment and expose the kid to all that.

No amount of love for a man would make me select the man over the safety of my child. Maternal instinct should come first, above everyone.

Facts. A GOOD MAN knows children come first. Pass the word to any of your sisterhood that doesn't get that. If your child doesn't come first that's a good indicator of his quality as a man.

Abuse is a powerful thing. The abuser knows all the weaknesses or it wouldn't work.

I can't imagine forgetting my maternal instincts to protect my own child, to place their safety over mine. Those mothers still deserve prison time.

Not always. You have to think of it from an abused mindset, not from a healthy one. Of course there are woman out there who hate enough. Can't lump them all together.

Indeed. No way would I be the bystander if anyone is actively hurting my child right in my presence. A real loving, mother cares more about her child's safety over her own.

Indeed. They deserved jail time for that too. Preferring their own safety over the child's is the definition of a selfish and neglectful parent.
