I just try remembering that it's a blessing to have a birthday because there are a lot of people who didn't get the privilege to age and have many birthdays. Like my sister died at 18. Her birthday is a few days before mine so I always think about how I'm getting another year that she didn't get to experience and even tho that is sad it makes me realize that I'm lucky to be able to experience another year of living

Think about your birth. I’m sure your parents were very joyful. It’s the anniversary of your start in life. There is a lot of darkness but plenty of light. Imagine life with no sound or wind making things subtly move. That would be depressing. Imagine not being able to see anything ever or not having hands. Our hands are the greatest tool humans have been blessed with.

While my birthdays themselves have never really been the cause for depression, I've been feeling depressed since my birthday last month. It's like suddenly I feel like time's running out and I haven't made my life mean anything at all. I feel defeated. Like it's a race and I got scared of it and didn't even start running while everyone else is now far ahead of me.

I don’t have that problem. I don’t care to have a need to celebrate my birthday. I do feel glad to be alive. I can do a lot when alive and healthy… one thing I don’t do is feel pity for myself. I also don’t like to burden others. I bring laughter to others.

Celebrating birthday is just a custom in some cultures they aren’t celebrated at all so if you feel forced in celebrating you can opt out. But I’ll highly recommend you should investigate why you feel that why
