Is it okay that I’m hurt and angry that my sister won’t make it to my graduation even though she has a reason?

Her reason is that she got a job offer where she could potentially make a lot of money over the summer and took it plus her friends are getting married the day before my graduation. I just feel like I’m getting the short end of the stick yet again even though I semi-understand her not being able to be there.

Of course, emotions aren't really under our direct control, and it's very natural to feel hurt and angry when your sister can't make your graduation - even when she has a good reason.

You seem to already understand this yourself, so as long as you don't unfairly take it out on your sister, I don't think anyone can blame you for feeling the way you do.

They only let you bring 2 guests to your graduation and a lot of long term couples have excluded their entire family so they can bring their boyfriend or girlfriend instead, since they don’t want to hurt their family by choosing one sibling, parent or grandparent and exclude the other sibling or parent, as they want to bring their romantic partner as one of their two guest choices for the ceremony.

I think she has a valid excuse. That is obviously life altering for her. You are allowed to be hurt and upset but also need to be understanding as to why she has to do this.

You are being selfish. Graduating isn't impressive or important. You have to be a moron to not be able to graduate. Your sister is being responsible and worrying about the right things.
