Why is my friend acting so strangely?

He blocked then unblocked me specifically, for a few days and is avoiding attending three Asperger’s social group activities where I’m going and our friend group is going.

I noticed that this happened after he had three meltdowns and also was unsuccessful with finding a date at the dance, whereas I had men approaching me. I noticed he also picked a fight with a guy with Asperger’s that we don’t like, since then.

is he avoiding me? He does want to catch up outside of the aspie groups, I’ve noticed.

Dont over think he is losing it and having melt downs. He wants you to ask him to the dance blocking and unblocking you for attention.

He is playing games with himself hoping you notice him.

The fact that he still wants to hang out with you one-on-one is interesting too. It makes me wonder if he's got a crush on you or something, and he's just dealing with it in a really immature way. Avoiding you in the group settings but still wanting your attention privately - that can be a sign of that.

My advice would be to try talking to him about it, if you feel comfortable. Let him know you've noticed the odd behavior and ask if everything is okay. Reassure him that you value his friendship, but make it clear you won't tolerate the avoidance or fighting. Set some boundaries if you need to.

Just be patient with him, but also don't let him walk all over you. Chances are, he's dealing with some stuff and not handling it very well. But that doesn't excuse being shady or disrespectful. Hopefully, if you address it head-on, he'll open up and you two can work through whatever's going on.
