Is it normal for a baby to like hiphop, R&R and basically loud music over softer ones and melodies?

My friend's 4 month-old baby (a girl) gets happy, calm if you were to play ''Crazy ride'' by beyonce, any R&R and basically loud songs, sometimes even falls asleep to that.

But when playing Rock a Bye Baby (nursery rhyme) or something soft, she cries right away, doesn't seem to like it. Is this normal?

Chances are, as the baby gets a bit older, their musical tastes will start to become more diverse. They'll probably start enjoying the more soothing, melodic stuff too. But in the meantime, riding that Beyoncé wave is totally normal and healthy! Your friend should just go with what works for keeping the baby happy and content.

she got good taste XD she may enjoy the beat, same as a lot of babies prefer being held to sleep because they can hear the heartbeat, simulating the heartbeat they'd hear/feel in the womb. Plus if the parents listened to it, it can transfer as a "like" to the baby in its familiarity
