I think we all like to be called by our first name, regardless of the situation. With friends or family members, how often do you use their first names or do they use yours in an informal conversation? Does it create a special bond?

I think it's true. People feel a bond when you remember their name. I know I do. Like being greeted cheerful by name by coworkers or a nurse at a doctor's office or whatever. If people remember your name it means they know you.

I've always been called by the nickname associated with my full given name. It's what my parents and everyone else called me.

I wouldn't say that's a person's favorite sound. Some people hate their names. But I would say it's definitely good when a person especially someone you're dating calls you by your name a lot. The new guy I'm dating called me by my name when we first met in person and actually pronounced it right which did make me feel good.

I really don't care for my first name and never have.

When someone calls me by my first name out loud it reminds me of my mother calling me.

At home it is either mom, sweetheart, hun, or Katie. At work it is either Mrs Hinkson or Katie and golfing it is almost always Katie.

Teaching FORCED me to learn names well n quickly. I don't care for my last name at all.
