What is your definition for friend, and what is your definition for acquaintance?

My personal definition would be:

- a friend is a person that you can entrust with many things (not everything of course) and that does not stab you in the back when you need them. A person that treats you as equal and that does not put you down or try to get into your pants at the first occasion. That is why, friends of the opposite gender a more of a rarity.

- an acquaintance is simply a person that you know by name but that you don't interact with at the same level as a friend. A student in the same class would be an acquaintance, a person that you meet in the mall and that you have a casual chat with would be an acquaintance.

A friend has a measure of trust I place in them. An acquaintance doesn't have that. For example @Ez-Bri-Z_v2 and @SecretsofKB have an idea of how good or bad I can be and generally why. Where as @butterly248 doesn't.
