Have you ever had to deliver the news someone died? Ever done it as part of the job? We're you chosen by family or just put on your adulting pants?

Just this last March, I had to tell my brother that our dad died unexpectedly. He just happened to be visiting at the time. I really feel sorry for my oldest brother, he's the one that told my mom. He says he can still hear her whaling at times.

Kind of. I'm a receptionist in a care home so I might get phone calls from people hoping to talk with someone and I'll have to say I'm sorry they died. But its not too difficult as I'm coming feim a professional stance rather than a personal one.

Yes I have and it's not a good feeling at all. It's one of the worst jobs you can have.

I had to tell my brother-in-law and mother-in-law my wife had died. There's no easy way to do it. It's not a piece of news you can deliver with a softened blow.

Yup. I had to tell my first wife her dad died. He wasn't very old and he was in great health and the doctors don't know what the cause of death was. The worst part is the trying to think of the right way to delivery the news.

No I've been fortunate. I enough to never be put in this position. That said I know what a mother sounds like when she knows her babies are dead and I never want to hear that sound again.

Yes, when my father died I had to call some people to let them know. His best friend moved to Florida and I had to call him. It was hard to do.

I had to do it to my mother. Heavily dementing at the time, that her brother had passed. Strangely it was one of the few short term memories she held onto.
