my father belonged to the Amvets with a guy who was a registry cop. My father took my brother and me to the RMV office where this guy worked and he took us out for the road test. Naturally we both passed and my father gave him a bottle of Scotch when we were done.

6 moI forgot… definitely not the first time.
my daughter just passed her test.
the first time she rolled through 3 stop signs just like me lol… of course she watched how I drive. The instructor said… no one follows the rules of stopping at the stop sign and wait for whatever seconds. However for the purpose of the test, she has to follow the rules.
the instructor told her to take a 2 hr. class to learn the rules so she can pass. She did. She passed… the instructor asked who taught her… she said mom and step dad… because she drove so confidently and smoothly and had such good handle of the vehicle.

Believe it or not I really didn't take e driver's test
Let me explain. So at my highschool well we had to take drivers Ed., and well that was technically in my opinion and everyone I went to highschool with, a free period class where we all watched Duck Dynasty. So I drove once in driver's education around the school and that was good enough for a pass.
However, Alabama is really strict on their boating laws so I had to take a written exam on board safety and I obtained my permit at age 15 and my boating license at age 15.
It's kinda funny how they didn't give a damn about driver safety but were hell bent on boat safety
Now how in the hell did I obtain a license. We'll see, since I took driver's education, and passed just by showing up, not driving but showing up, they gave us this gold card and we had to like present it to the lady at the DMV and she just gave us our driver's license. So nope didn't take a driver's test at all.
Don't worry @exitseven my mom took me practice driving around our hometown and the next town over. Didn't take a driver's test or anything so thank you mom for teaching me how to drive cause the school oh my goodness, the education system has failed us

6 mo4 times. 3 of which i had with a different driving school with an asshole teacher who was psychologically abusing people to make them fail their test so they have to pay for more lessons. after i realized and tried again with another driving school, i passed the first time with them.
oh also: you gotta know that in order to get a drivers license where i live, you have to pay a professional and certified driving teacher. can't have your parents teach you.
in order to take the theoretical license test, you gotta have 14 theorie lessons (90 minutes each) with an official driving school.
in order to be approved for the pracitcal driving test, you gotta have at least 12 specialty driving lessons (5 of which between the cities, 4 of which on the highways and 3 of which at night).
and the practical test will be an hour long drive with your driving teacher and a certified official examiner in which they will let you drive through all the hard to navigate spaces and if you make the slightest driving mistake, you fail and have to do the test again.10 Reply
6 moI passed it the first time I took it.
But after I had been driving for 17-18 years I moved to another state and had to take it again. I almost failed that time. Not because I was driving bad, but because the guy was being a dick. He checked all the lights and signals before the test and I had a right turn signal out. He let me take the test anyway. He kept having me make right hand turns. Every time I made a right turn he dinged me because I didn't use hand signals. He didn't say a word about it until the test was done and I had exactly the minimum score.20 Reply
5 moFirst try Passed. But Mom had to take me and got a moving violation ticket on the way. No moving violations on my part till the first encounter with PIV sex. I got pulled and the officer wanted to know if I had been Drinking, I said no, Smoking I said no. He asked me how fast My 2000cc Pinto wound go and I answered honestly about 85 before the plugs foul out. I told him I had just scored. He laughed and said slow down son and you might live long enough to do it again. No ticket. He was right.
10 ReplyI passed on 3rd try. But in Poland drivers test in much harder than in USA. Here below 5 tries is considered a good result. First, because the form is different. Second because the DMVs earn good money on these exams, so I heard they like to fail people, so they would get more money on more tries.
Also: if you live in a big city, some people choose to take a test in a smaller city, cause smaller cities are considered easier to drive around. My classmate decided to take a test in a smaller city (around 40 000 inhabitants - I was surprised that such a small city even had a DMV, but appearently they opened it recently). And he appearently failed at the very beginning 😄
My cousin passed on 7th attempt from what I remember. And she also took the test in a smaller city, but different one (around 100 000 inhabitants).

6 moOnce for my American one and once for my Japanese one. Just study the test and practice a little would be my advice to anyone that doesn't get at least a 98% just because you've seen it in a movie once.

6 moThe first time I didn't even get out of the parking lot! I was so nervous, I forgot to put my seatbelt on. He stopped me from pulling out into traffic and rescheduled me. I was so pissed! I honestly think he was hungover and didn't even wanna deal with testing that day lol Second time I passed with flying colors.
20 Reply404 opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. The written test was a piece of cake! But unfortunately I was driving a car that I had never driven before until I was actually taking the driver test and I wasn't used to that car and messed up and had to wait 2 weeks to go back and try it again and then I passed. YAY!👍🏼

6 moJust once, but i had the driver training course and hours of practice driving before the time came. I don’t see how anyone could fail when they literally tell you everything you need to know except for how many idiots you would be joining when you finally hit the road. Ell oh ell!
Yeah, they coded it by teaching us “defensive driving”, but that was way too vague. That’s like teaching you how to use a fire extinguisher and then sending you directly into a 4-alarm fire.20 Reply- 2.1K opinions shared on Family & Friends topic.
6 moIn university, I got above 90% on every test and exam I ever took except for 5, and on four of those tests, the marker lied about the number of correct answers I made to change the class average or to punish me for believing in religions they hated.

6 moI was told I didn't check 12 intersections. I absolutely did. It was a brand new truck and I was paranoid about it, he just wasn't paying attention. But I still passed first try by keeping quiet.

6 moI passed on the first test. I was 16. My mother drive me to the test, then waited at the starting point for me. I returned less than 5 minutes later. She thought I had failed, The inspector reassured her that I had passed with no points off. I must admit it was the easiest test I've ever taken.
10 Reply 483 opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. Right off the bat. My school said I had to pick between driver’s ed and home ec, which was a no-brainer. My folks said if I didn’t pass on the first try they send me to home ec (which at my school was called “the dish pit”)….

6 moI passed on my 5th try. The guy straight up told me I actually met all the standards on my 3rd try, but he failed me two more times for stupid and arbitrary nonsense.
20 Reply582 opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. I passed the first time on both my road tests. First one was for my regular license and the second was for my commercial drivers license. I taught both of my kids to drive and they both passed on their first try
20 ReplyIn my country is 30 obligatory practical driving hours for driver license + 30 hours theory. Both end with exams. 50% people fail by first practical exam. I did both just with obligatory hours.

@DreamCrescent it’s weird. Decades ago when it expired you had to retake the test. Now it’s just $ and it gets renewed

@DreamCrescent pay

you had to retake the behind the wheel? i didn’t know. i guess my license never expired completely, i’ve been renewing before the expiration date i suppose. i’ve always just paid the renewal fee around my birthday every 4 years

@DreamCrescent no the written

i would love if people were required to pass the written exam on a regular basis. they’d learn the right of way eventually lol
