What's nice about not having a gender reveal party is that you get gifts that will suit any baby. No all blue this or all pink that. I never knew what sex I was having until my baby was born and I liked it that way.

I know gender reveal is the rage. But I've never liked the blue/pink/boy/girl thing, or girls get this toy and boys get that. I played with my brother's toys and blue is my favorite color. I owned one pink jumper when I was 9. Never worn a pink outfit since.

However, my son, who I dressed in every color, as a baby and child, because he looked good in all of them and appeared to enjoy most of them, wears everything. He's 30.

So, I say, wait on the gender thing. Don't find out until your kid is born. Paint the kid's room a color that'll wear well for years and works with the rest of your home.

My brother's room was yellow. Mine was white,, but the colors weren't chosen because of our sexes. And later my parents repainted them when we left home.

Leave the gender boxes open and let your kids fill them. They'll decide what they like will tell you, if you listen.
