How do you know you're enough?

Someone I know is getting "I am enough" tattooed to his arm as we speak... Hmm.

I personally don't do tattoos. The one exception was extensive shoulder-to-foot henna painting for a major wedding (at the bride's request). Lovely for about a week, faded after a month, not planning on a repeat bc it took an eternity to finish and dry and i had endless questions about it till it faded.

ANYWAY, so this guy is getting this comment permanently branded onto his arm. I grilled him for a full week to make sure this wasn't some passing fad (like his interest in violins, motorcycles and a slew of other things). I asked him if this was because we were chatting about Passover traditions a few weeks ago (where folks go around the table and make a "what if" sort of claim and the response is "that would have been enough)... And I truly wondered why he wanted that comment to be on him so badly.

He said it was a reminder that he doesn't need "the job" or "the girl" or anything else to make him "enough"... "I *AM* enough..."

I answered that if he knows that already and it's written in his heart then he doesn't need the tattoo.

He got quiet, looked at me and booked the appointment.

Flipping through G@G questions now, waiting for him to scream and to make sure it wasn't misspelled... If either happens he owes me $50... 😂

More seriously, wondering why I've always felt like I am enough... never questioning that. Not in an obnoxious stuck-up way, but knowing that I'd be fine with a casserole for 1 or a casserole for 5. I'm simply ok with who I am even if others aren't. I'm self-sustainable, independent and all that. Not that I don't have friends, but I'm not a burden to them or to my family, you know?

I'd love to hear from you all. Tell me how you know that you're enough.
