What is it with parents trying to be their child friend instead of parenting?

My girlfriend and I we went to a buffet yesterday afternoon. We sat at a table with a couple about my age. It wasn't until that couples demon came over and took our ketchup , I said NO! And told the woman if she could please take her kid away from us. The kids mom give me Karen vibes but was all it's ok sweetie mommy will give you you're own ketchup give the kid a coloring book and crayons instead of teaching the demon a lesson. Then that same three year old pointed at my direction laughing at me and called me 💩 💩 💩 💩 💩 💩 💩 head the kids parents didn't do shit about the situation. Later that same kid throw a cookie at my girlfriend.

The kids parents didn't do absolutely nothing about their demons behavior. Poor parenting 101 here!
