Is it wrong when a father won't let the mother correct her child?

My friend's 8 year-old daughter seems to be getting worse. She's spoiled, sometimes backtalks to adults and it's really her husband's fault. They already have two sons, 18 and 20 years old.

He never says no to her, spoils her way more than with his 2 sons when they were that age and gave her everything whenever she threw a tantrums, even saw him laughing one day. He really though it was cute and funny. She was grounded one day and the mother said she couldn't go to the park but the father took her to the park.

If the mother wants to punish her, he ungrounds her and tells my friend that she's being too harsh... even once told her ''don't listen to her''.

Of course it's wrong and I've witnessed this before. He might think he's being a good father to her but he's only teaching her to not take accountability for her actions.
