Do I have a right to be slightly upset with my mom?

My moms cat passed away about 5 years ago when she was 15. At Thanksgiving we were talking to my brothers girlfriend about cats. We brought up that my moms cat was an outside cat and lived to be 15. Then my mom said "until nick started keeping her inside" and she looked over at me with an annoyed face. So the reason I did that is because she was very skinny. I took her to the vet because my mom didn't want to, because she insisted she was fine. The cat was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and was likely already suffering, so to keep her comfortable, she had to take medication, which would be very difficult if we still let her outside, because she would go away for days at a time. Anyways, when I defended my decision, and said "well she had hyperthyroidism and we needed to keep her inside to give her her medication" my mom raised her voice, and was like "she was fine!". I wasn't gonna argue so I just kept silent and changed the subject. I just dont get how even after finding out her cat had hyperthyroidism, my mom didn't want to do anything about it, and let her die naturally. I get animals die like that in the wild, but this cat was a pet, and we have the ability to keep them healthy, and pain free.
