I have a younger sibling (brother) who has bullied and dismissed me since he was 13 years old. We are 1 year and 1/2 apart in age. However in school we were always 2 grades apart
He joined secondary school (high school) and completely switched on me when he started to fit in. I didn’t enjoy school and it gave me anxiety I’m discovering to this day as an adult.
After I finished school I went through bad depression. Despite always being good at subjects and intelligent, I failed all my exams and fell into deep depression. In college there were boys saying horrible things about my appearance. From 16 to almost 18 I went through depression. Appearance problems too.
Through this time I never committed any suicide attempts. But I grew a habit of talking to myself when I needed to vent, as I had no one to vent to. I would play music on my speaker all day to block out my pain, constantly measure myself as I was insecure about my height. We shared a room at this time so he knew I was unstable and it made him sad. But he had been horrible to me way before my breakdown.
I am now 22. He is 21. We do not speak. He is completely secluded from everyone in the house, my mum and stepfather. He’s had a terrible attitude for over 5 years. Stays in his room. Nobody trusts him
I have a boyfriend that he’s tried to put down and even start unnecessary problems with and claims he’s trying to play a ‘dad’ role as I used to be unwell and he doesn’t want me to go back to that if it doesn’t work out
But my relationship is absolutely great and never terrible news

There is no such thing.
When someone is “protective” in a bullying way, that isn’t protection at all—it's a form of abusive control.
Your brother is an asshole. Don't talk to him ever again.
What makes you say that? During depression we shared a room and he was emotional about it
Going in my mums room crying worried
He has been mean to you in the past and now he is being a cock blocker to you.
Cut your brother out of your life. That is not love, that is abuse.
