Anyone here has a live-in nanny for their kids or works as a live-in nanny?

I have a few questions for you mainly related to the dynamics of having a nanny living at your house.

We don’t have one, but my husband’s aunt is always available on the weekend to help us with our baby so we could go out for a night date or outing. We offer to pay her but she refused to accept so we just buy her groceries or dinner.

Having a trusted family member is a blessing. Unfortunately me and my Partner don't have family around to help us that's why we'll eventually need to hire a helper as we both have full-time jobs.

I am sorry that you don’t have support system around you. I hope you find a decent babysitter/daycare for your kids. I am sure there are plenty good ones out there 🌹

I had one growing up bc parents were both new here and worked. Back then she was basically hired just for room and board. When I had the option to hire one i didn't do it. No sense in MAKING kids just to leave them with strangers in their formative years.

A client of mine had a live in nanny. She became intensly jealous of the nanny, worrying all the time that she was cheating with my client's husband, but without any proof.

It ended badly.

That's a recipe for disaster! Nanny's and handymen. I've watched way to many murder documentaries about things turning ugly.

I had a very close friend that had one growing up. I could share my perspective since I was over there a lot. Tho, that ended when her little brother reached a certain age.

My main question is how do you maintain privacy in the house between you and your Husband when you have another person living with you like can we have a moment just for ourselves like chilling in the living room as we always do? Can we have meals without having another person around? Can we still be affectionate without feeling weird?

Alright, so in the case of my friend, their nanny had set hours she was “on duty”. This was for her little brother mind you. I should also point out my friend and I were in our early teens.

If I stayed over on a weekend, I pretty much got the whole picture of how things worked. Ashley (the nanny) basically took care of her brother during the day. Think of it as a normal day shift for someone.

Ashley had her own room and once it was dinner time, you didn’t really see her much. She’d go out with friends or take care of personal things.

Honestly, Ashley felt more like another family member than an employee, which is really what she was. At the end of the day, while she still lived there, she’d do her own thing.

Obviously, I was not around to see every day of interactions. If there is anything specific you want to know, I can text my best friend for her opinion. We are still very close even though we go to different universities.

Nope but I used to be friends with one. We all helped her move into the house she was living in at the time.

I know. I don't plan on hiring the first person that shows up. Me and my Partner will definitely go through a round of interviews and we will surely install cameras in the house.
