Has anyone here ever been a carer for someone while also taking care of kids. Do you have any advice for someone who is about to start this?

My dad had major surgery to remove a brain tumour. He was discharged from the hospital and it has dawned on me that I am going to be his full time carer while also taking care of my 1 year old. Right now we have already hit a hurdle because Dad is not allowed to drive for 3 months and I have a court ordered dna test booked in for Thursday, at the same time the hospital has insisted that dad has to have his staples taken out on Thursday, the exact same day I have to do the court ordered dna test.

if anyone else has ever been in a similar situation. What advice do you have? TIA

full time is usualy a shift for 8 hours. but if you will live in their home, to help 24 hours, then can't bring your child. need to leave the kid with family relatives like some of the International workers i know here in new york.

in your time conflict you would hire from an agency for that day.

I have to take my baby for the dna test as my baby is the one who has to have the court ordered test.

This is my dad whom I live with with my 1 year old so my child will be around at all times.

I found out my dad was asked if he needed a carer before I got to the hospital and he told them no. The hospital were going to arrange a carer for him but because he said no, they have taken him off the list for patients needing carers. What sucks is that even if I call and ask for one, they would not appoint a qualified carer because dad already refused. When I told dad I had the appointment and I couldn’t get out of it, he threatened to drive himself to the doctor so I’ve had to hide the car keys.

I been a carer, still n also took care of kids
u gonna be needing loooot of patience, tons of it n u gonna be needing to keep ur temper on check
it gets hard for sure n tiring but if the person u r taking care of is someone who means lot to u then it will surely be worth it by the end of day

Thank you for this. I really appreciate your help so much. I’m only one day in and finding it challenging and I feel like I am already failing because my 1 year old is extremely clingy to me. So it’s making it a bit hard to do things. She also doesn’t sleep through the night so I’m barely sleeping. I woke up this morning to find that dad took all of his uti medication at one as well as 4 gastro tablets. Thankfully it wasn’t enough to cause an overdose but it was enough for the ambulance to take him to the hospital. Thank you heaps thank you
