My mum seems to be like that. The more interested in me that they are, the more she seems to regard them as bad or lazy people, when she doesn’t know them and she’s not as hard on my friends, who have as many faults as the guys I date.
490 opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. My mom was that he didn't like any girl that I ever brought over to meet her
And it got to the point where I would bring a girl over, I'd say, okay, I don't want you to take it the wrong way. But my mom's gonna be cold, she's gonna be distant and who knows what she's gonna say. I said I don't know why she does it. It drives me crazy, but I don't really care either. So you don't care either, don't listen to what anything she has to say, because she does not know
She's done it with every girl. I have brought to her house to introduce her
I said this is what I mean about her. Just being judgmental , or what have you
It was Thanksgiving dinner or something like that. My brother called me up and told me he had to work like a half an hour to an hour late , and he asked me if I would go pick up his girlfriend and take her to mom's house
I said, okay, we got there and my mom wasn't there yet, so we are in the living room talking and my mom walks in and all of a sudden, you can just see her change like an attitude and she stops and she says, who is this pot smoking cherry Hooker? And I looked at the girl and we both died laughing, I'm going cherry Hooker, what the hell does that mean? And we are just both cracking up and the girl saying, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I've never heard that. And I said, mom, timeout, before you embarrass yourself, I said this is not my girlfriend. This is rich's girlfriend. He wan.\nTED me to pick her up because he was running late and she goes, oh okay, how are you walks over puts her hand out, shakes it? Oh my god it was funny13 Reply- 5 mo
lol so your mum is similar to mine.

Yeah.\n My mom was a riot. I never understood it, but what the funny part was is like 4 and a 1/2 years ago, she was living with my sister, she had Alzheimer's dementia. And she wanted to move for my sister, so I told her she had to move in with me because I was not gonna let her live on her own
So After she moved in. Probably about 3 or 4 months. But a friend of mine stopped by.\n And my mom was really, really nice to her and I couldn't believe it cause I warned her, I mean she wasn't even my girlfriend, she's just a friend and the girl walks in the house and my mom and her start talking. And the girl it says, okay, well, I just wanted to check on you make sure you are okay and if you needed any help with your mom blah blah blah, I said, okay, cool, thanks. So I walked back into the house and my mom goes, I really liked her. I remember when you used to date her and all this stuff, which I never did date her at all as a matter of fact, that was the first time that my mom ever seen the girlbut II think that she also remembered how Rude She was when somebody would come with me to Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner.\n But every time that girl would come over, my mom would say, oh I remember her, and she never had ever met her before, but yeah, it kind of sounds like it. Like your your mom

This is something that mainly applies to children until they are capable of making reasonable and coherent decisions. In the best case scenario, parents will start to let their kids lose progressively when they realize that they have the maturity to make their own decisions and to be accountable for them.
Some parents can never really let go, even when their children are adults and have the feeling that they need to be chaperoned. It could obviously also be because some parents have realized that their child has made the wrong choices in life.
The behavior that you describe is more likely the one of a father for his daughter.
The excerpt below is an AI answer that may partially answer your question
"Research suggests that while mothers often experience higher general anxiety and overprotectiveness regarding their children's daily physical safety and mental health,
fathers often display higher levels of protective worry and emotional attunement specifically toward their daughters. This is often driven by a desire to protect them from external threats".20 Reply
Because they believe their average child is exceptional and deserves someone much better than average. However, average is the best their child can attract.

It's not that they want " the best " , it's they are frightened themselves.
Very happy to say I was never like this.10 Reply495 opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. Because parents’ want the best for their kids’ and if the guys’ you are dating don’t come close to what your parents’ want for you , they won’t accept them , so basically any guy you date isn’t going to be good enough for your parents’ approval until they really get to know him and even if they do, it’s still a 50/50 chance on whether they will like him for you or not

5 moSometimes it’s emotional incest, sometimes it’s just seeing too much of their former selves in you and they’re trying to protect to from making the same mistakes they did, sometimes they just think you have shit taste.

Anonymous(25-29)5 mothose types of parents are the worst. they're usually also the one who are never willing to punish or discipline their children. In their minds, no matter how bad their child is, they still see them as perfect angels.

I do believe that’s true. Although I also believe some people are just born inherently evil and will die evil.
Opinion Owner5 mo@misssunshine2
I'm not talking about evil. Whenever I see people that are really entitled, disrespectful, selfish, inconsiderate. They feel like they can behave any way they want regardless of the impact on others- this is how I can tell they were spoiled as kids.
When parents think their kids should never be punished... their kids literally will never feel any of their actions are ever wrong.
Opinion Owner5 moEver seen someone who constantly doesn't care about the boundaries of others?
then they are never sorry that they violated other people's boundaries for their own selfish interests?
ever met someone who would do terrible things but never say sorry?
this is a sign they were never disciplined as kids.- 5 mo
Yes, I completely agree in that case 😊
They don't want lose control over you. Lot of control freaks are obsessive and won't hesitate to destroy your life just for sake of gratification of their egos.

She can't judge for shit, so is just aggressive to compensate.

5 moMost parents want the best for their children, including partners. However, some take it too far, thinking their offspring golden children for whom only the very best will suffice.(I'm a Golden Boy because of my good looks and brains, but...)
10 ReplyMy mom was like that with my brother's girlfriends and later wives. I guess it's mother's intuition or mother knows best attitude.
