Is it ok to vent to vent to a school counselor?

I'm not gonna go into it but i was wanting to ask my counselor if I could talk to her because I've been having problems at home with my parents always fighting, dad threatening to divorce my mom, threatening to beat the shit out of me and my mom and doing all of that. I no longer feel comfortable or safe being in my own home and I don't know what to do and I really have nobody else to talk to.. Would it be ok to ask her? am I just being sensitive or something?

Yes, it’s okay.

That’s literally part of what they’re there for.

Venting isn’t weakness, it’s processing.

Sometimes saying things out loud to someone neutral helps you see them more clearly.
