How social are choir groups and church groups for making friends?

I am a very social person but I’m struggling a lot with depression. My mum tells me it’s because I’m bored. I’m smart and I’m not being challenged enough.

I already attend an Autistic social group. I’m thinking of joining a church group in the western suburbs and a choir group in the city. Somewhere where I’m having more exposure to other people and hopefully making friends and meeting interesting men, doing activities I love. How social are choir groups and church groups? I haven’t attended either activities in years.
