Why don’t some married couples ever invite their parents on trips?

Lets say you are married (you dotn have kids with your husband as your husband alrayd have grown up kids from a previous marriage). You and your husband travel locally and overseas a bit often from many years you had done that. I have heard that some families where even married couples take into account and invite their parents or at least one of their parents to go travel with them (im not saying always but it happens), lets say is a bit of retirbution to raise you and take care of you. Why dont you do the same from tiem to time, to take your parents travel with you, right? I know a cousin of my mom and my sister mom who their children are like that. Even if my mom cousin and my mom sister kids have families on their own, and my aunt and my mom cousin are already senior people. Their kids always take them into account when they want to travel and they like their mom or both parents to be with them and enjoy also the time and the trip. Im not saying it happens all the time but it does happen with these relatives of me and my mom.

In the case of my sister, she had never ever had done that with mom or even when my dad was alive. Now that my mom is lets say jsut with me and my brother. My sister always show off and tell stories about her trips with her hubby but never in her life had told us she would like us to go with her, even if we can pay for our own accomodations. Not even had told my mom ever anything that why dont we go with her to relax on trips even locally, never ever that had happened.

My wife and I actually did invite my parents on a trip to Vegas because my dad loved going there any chance he got. We actually all had a great time. We all did something we wanted to do/see and the others went with each other. I actually really enjoyed my mom's pick of seeing Phantom of the Opera especially.

I know my brother also went with my parents to Disney but thats because he needed them to pay for his family so that doesn't count.

Because for a lot of couples, vacations are the one rare time they get to fully relax without family expectations, or feeling like they’re hosting people the entire trip.

Like I said many families do it and dont think their parents are a burden. If the children want to treat ($$) their parents that is up to them anyway. But if they do it I believe because they are very close to each other and for the kids is no problem or dont believe is a burden to them and they enjoy the trip as well.

In Europe and Asia this is normal, but in the U. S. it's considered weird. Personally, I wouldn't do it, especially with how my parents are. Maybe they don't get along and have different interests, and also just want privacy,

in US weird? I doubt it I have aunts who live in the USA and also their kids and they do that very often.

A couple traveling with parents? That's an uncommon idea lol.

I guess it could be a thing in traditonal societies? Else, people are probably too independent to enjoy the lack of privacy it gives

Not so much in the U. S., unless it's like an immigrant family, but Europeans, I've seen do this many times. So I am very surprised by his comment. It's more common for Europeans then Americans.

I've seen people, adults, travelling with their parents, yep, sometimes, but never married couples. But I can only talk about what I see and hear

other people? I don’t know and don’t care.
I always invite my parents siblings to go on trips or to my house. We are very close and loving.
this weekend… my sister decided to come over last minute and that’s what we did.
Our dad passed away. We took our mom on a cruise and to Hawaii and other places…

when children are raised to care and love that’s what they will do. My kids are older now. And I know they will continue this tradition.

When my kids were growing up, we often took my mother or my mother-in-law with us on trips. My father had died and my mother-in-law was divorced. It added to the fun, and (somewhat selfishly) we had a baby-sitter so me and my wife could sometimes do things on our own without having to worry about the kids.

I'm not sure why some couples don't take their parents with them, at least some of the time. If I had to guess,, it's probably something they don't think of. Maybe when they were little, their grandparents rarely (if ever) went on family trips.

I know of a guy who took his girlfriend's parents on a trip with them. His girlfriend's dad was a complete dipshit the whole time towards him, and eventually ended up locking himself in the bedroom at the condo for the last part of the trip. I guess he didn't like him. (Obviously.) His girlfriend's mom brought food into the room for him. Weird.

Because they would always be giving you your own medicine by them keeping asking "When are we going to get there?" "I have to go to the bathroom!" or "I'm hungry. Can we have McDonald's?" 🤣😂

Ma’am, not every family is the exact same. Not everyone has the exact same relationship with the parents, and not everyone couple prefers to bring their parents along on trips. You cannot be this single-minded in life, to where you think all of your logic and ideations are the exact same as every other person under the Sun.
