How do you cope with family members who get mean when they drink?

This gets really old. I mean you can't do anything with these people. My brothers fiancé had a glass of wine and 10 minutes later she's already belittling me. She must have had more than that where I didn't see, but they'll just do a 180 in like 5 minutes. My brother will do the same thing, but at least he doesn't start putting me down like she does. She just turns all narcissistc and blames everything on me completely out of nowhere too.

My mom used to do this every time she drank since I was a kid and then in the morning would always apologize and I always excepted it. Now that I'm older.. have lived my life I realized I don't really give a fuck what my mom thinks or whether she loves me or not. So whenever my mom would started that shit with me I would hit her with everything I know about her that hurts, embarrasses her, or what she regrets. I always stab the knife in and twist it until she would literally start crying because I'm that mean.. and now she never starts with me because I have waaaay more dirt on her than she could ever bring up about me..
Make the bitch cry so she learns her place.. Just watch out that your brother isn't the type to beat you up for dissing his dumb bitch..

When someone's acting narcissistic, even when the're aggressively demanding that I "talk with them", I quietly walk out of the building/house and don't return for at least 3 hours. It temporarily associates their M. O. with losing supply, and they revert to hoovering. That said, I don't have a narcissistic employer.

absolutely, he'd even start a topic about my field that he has no knowledge about and act like he knows everything and i dont even when i am a well qualified expert so, yeah he's kinda impossible there

Are you close with your brother?

I think I would choose not to join some of the get togethers unless it's in a public space.

When you have family members who abuse alcohol or drugs, you have to set boundaries for your own mental well being. It may feel harsh to you. It's not though.

Try and stay away from them. If you feel unsafe leave as soon as possible. One of my bffs from high school was harmed because she stayed.
