Tomorrow at the world cup final. I was invited to go to an Steak Argentinian restaurant (Im not with Argentina anyway) My cousins invited me and also my siser and brother in law will go. My brother won't go cause 1. He will stay at home taking care of mom but also because he is not interested in attending for him is not a huge deal to watch the final at some restaurant anyway. 2. The restaurant I was invited is very expensive. and my brother at this moment can't afford to pay. I was thinking not to go either as I can't afford to pay either but my sister insisted me to go so I can spend time with the family. Anyway since my brother is not going I was not counting on him to give me a ride to the restaurant I was expecting my sister to pick me up as she was the one who insisted me to go. So my sister asked me "Should I pick you up?" and I answered her: Well yeah, our brother is not going (my sister knows the brother is not going) so I was not even expecting him to give me a ride. Then she said: Do not depend on him to give you favors.
I guess my sister expected me to go to the restaurant by UBER but she was the one insisted me to go and it sounds she was not thinking in give me a ride for her question "Should I pick you up?" Hello? AN uber from my house to the restaruatn is pricey as the restaurant is not near and still my sister assume I will go by Uber ( a taxi she was not going to pay) She wanted me to go to the restaurant well the least she can do is is to pick me up not expect me to go by myself in a taxi. it was obvious!! Especially when she was aware my brother was not going.

I’m going to disagree w what the others said. I think you read too much into it. She never said you need to take an uber from what I read. You just assumed that that’s what she was hinting at. You know hints, what women don’t men. Then for you to respond the way you did, to me you were rude. Unless she had a disgusted tone of voice when she asked you if she should pick you up, there was no reason why you should have responded to her the way you did. If anything you just made the conversation hostile so I wouldn’t blame her if she responded back to you in a bitchy way. Sounds like she was more aligned w you as far as asking if she should pick you up, that’s why she said not to ask your brother because she even knew he couldn’t be counted on. Did she know your financial situation? If not you have no reason to complain. But too she did ask if she should pick you up. At the same time you’re an adult, that’s your reliability to get there. If you couldn’t afford it you could have expressed to her I’d love to but right now I don’t have the finances or a ride. But you already started assuming all kinds of things.
I was just about to say I could understand your situation more if you’re a teenager, but I just looked at your age, 45 plus.
Yeah, I’d definitely say your sister was in the wrong. She’s aware of your financial situation, so to insist you not only go to dinner, but spend the money on uber too, was just very inconsiderate. If I were you, I’d cancel the plans. Realistically you should’ve just stuck to your guns in the first place, and teach these people to not only respect your boundaries, but to understand that no means no.
Being invited somewhere by someone who then expects you to solve all the logistics yourself at your expense isn't really a full invitation — it's a suggestion and a rude one at that.
