What would reply to your little kid if he or she asks you later why didn't you pick up the hat and continued to cuddle with him or her?

I had a moment like that with my niece who I love dearly.

She ran & jumped to hug & kiss me which resulted to my hat being knocked off my head and onto the floor.

After all the exchanges of pleasantries, she apologized for accidentally knocking off my hat.

I simply told her not to worry.

I later picked up the hat and put on her head instead.

She was so happy the rest of the day as she pranced around with her new hat.
