Went to this event. I heard I can come across as snobbish when I feel anxious (but really I’m just anxious)

one girl was new like me. Another two knew each other. I noticed they were being weird like only talking amongst themselves not really including me. One of them seemed defensive.

in the end the new person I heard them telling the other two we should exchange numbers.

I busied myself with something else. But later on I noticed she hadn’t really asked me and eventually left.

They were going out of the way to exclude me so I’d think a bit of insecurity but then the new girl was qualified engineer etc.

so I couldn’t tell do they think lowly of me or are threatened.

but either way I could tell they’re not very nice people and also petty

That's how people act when you aren't part of their clique. There's no point in being offended, people are just jerks.

The irony is not lost on me that if they truly were better than me they would be nice but not friendly they were purposely excluding me
