... to enslave yourself to a bank for a good number of years and lose your autonomy to 'the System' - go ahead, and buy one (well, you'll possess it, but not own it).

Once it's paid off - banks never tell you - you will be stuck with an outdated structure that's surrounded by newer, better, nicer buildings.

It's not good to buy a house right now, they are way overvalued and you will never get your money out of it. Wait til the market crashes and buy then, whether you're married or not.

I really do not think it matters. My wife and I were saving for a house before we got married but could not afford it. We waited about 8 month after we got married before we found a house.
