All that matters is if they're actually trying. I wouldn't expect a family member that can't work due to personal matters to help financially but they can help around the house.

It very much depends on the individual situation but I don't really have money to give away and also no space to take someone in.

Yes. To help them back on their feet. I've done this. Family helps Family but in saying that you know by the Family member whether you should or not
