Awkward silence between best male friend and I?

I'm a girl. For the past few months, he moved away and we had to communicate via IM. It was on a daily basis and we talked about anything. It became apparent recently that we are now more than friends...and it became slightly awkward. He started delaying his replies, or would say "hi" and then go offline. But when he does talk, he would talk nicely...so I don't think he's upset about anything, and claimed he isn't.

But if he isn't upset, why would he avoid conversations. What should I do?

I was in love with my best friend for many years, and never said anything. At first I was just too shy to say anything, but after awhile I became scared that it'd ruin my friendship, and so I never said anything. Eventually when I was 18 I think, I did "confess" to her, mostly to just get it out of my system. It did not ruin our relationship at all! It was a bit awkward at first, she did turn me down (she used to maybe love me but I'm like a brother now) it was a bummer at first, but I don't regret it. My advice is, wheather you like him or not, talk to him about it. It can save a lot of upset later on. Also, people generally see me as a bit of a manly man, but I'm actually suuuper shy. As a guy though, I'm expected to make the first move, to confront the ladies that I like and whatnot. I'm terrible at it, I can't speak for other guys really, but for me, if a girl I like (or she liked me) came forward and talked to me id be stoked I didn't have to make the first move... well, I might get flustered and run away at first, but then id be stoked.

This guy is very manly but he never seems shy. Well, I mean, at least the last time when he liked the other girl he would go all out (but was rejected.). I tried to talk to him about it...but he denied that there's anything unusual or that he was unhappy. Lately he just won't reply my messages...but would sometimes drop a 'hi' and then turn silent.

Well, I'm no expert, but id say you should deffinately be sure about yours and his feelings before you move on. But it'd probably also be better to not linger on him for too long... I guess I'm assuming you like him. If you do like him, and you haven't yet, you should probably come right out and tell him... but, maybe get a second opinion, cause now I'm nervous ima give bad advice D:

Tell him how you feel, just be blunt. Easiest way to get his attention.
