Why are my guy friends so protective over me, if they think I'm ugly??

So when I ask my guy friends if they find me attractive they usually say no way, they think I look ugly as hell, like a monster.

So in my group of friends I'm the one that's always single and my guy friends make fun of me a lot because of it.

One time all my group of friends went out, I found a very hot guy I was alone with him and I was trying to flirt and talk to him, and all of sudden my guy friends grab me against my will and asked me if the guy was bothering me, I got really upset because the guy left. They always do stuff like that even when they know I'm clearly not in dangerous it annoys me because it scares the guys I like off, one time I was checking out a guy in the club we were making eye contact has soon as one of my friend realized this he just grabs me and pretends he is my boyfriend.

I told them to stop multiple times but they just keep doing this.

My question is if they think I'm ugly and that I need a boyfriend why do they protect me so much

Well, even if a person is ugly, it doesn't mean others can't be their friends.

But, in this situation, it sounds like they are going to far and holding you back. And if they outright say you are ugly, you need to question their friendship. Friends don't call other friends "ugly", even if they do find them unattractive. Indeed, true friends would try to work on ways to help their unattractive friend at least look more appealing if not more attractive. Certainly would never get in the way of them flirting with someone else, that's just lame and them being d***s. If I had to take a guess, I'd say they feel very small and "protecting" you is their way of boosting their esteem, likewise, calling you ugly as hell, like a monster, is reprehensible manipulative behavior to keep you clinging to them.

When asked if he likes girls a little boy will no doubt say "ew no way they are ugly" when secretly he loves them.

you are straight out asking them if they find you attractive and their response is to get embarrassed and say no way because its easier than giving you a compliment. they are too shy to tell you what they really think of you to your face.

ask another of your girl friends to ask them what they think of you and I bet the response would be different.

To answer your question: they either don't want to see you happy with someone, are low key jealous, or they see you as their little sister who they want to protect even though they consider you "ugly".

YOUR group thinks you are safe. If they are drunk or loaded, then ignore them. Maybe you need to get away from that group. They have you in a box. Escape. Who cares what they think anyway?
