How to friend zone over text?

I know this sounds bad but we only talk over text and I need to make it clear that we'll only be friends. Without saying that blatantly and hurting his feelings.

It's far better to just say it outright. Yes you might hurt his feelings a little, but he'll get over it. Guys are used to rejection. Far more than girls anyway. So just tell him outright. Tell him it's nothing personal, and if need be, tell him why. Otherwise, you trying to friend zone him will only succeed in frustrating him or outright pissing him off. Worse yet, that's if he DOES get the hint. If he doesn't, you're just gonna keep going round and round. If you're really friends, then it's always best to just be honest. Good luck.

You never see him in person? If text is the only way, that's a method of last resort. Just tell him straight up that you only see him as a friend, and that if he sees you as more than that, he should search elsewhere for a girlfriend. It is going to hurt no matter what to find out that he thinks that you think he's ugly or unattractive in some way. Just be honest and get it over with.

If he flirts with you, ignore the flirting. If he asks you to come over to his place to cook/watch a movie/ be alone, don't accept. If he wants to get dinner at night, don't go.

I friend zoned someone through Facebook apparently. This guy was into me, I wasn't into him, I started avoiding talking to him, when he wanted to meet up I didn't have time, because he gave me the feeling I was a substitute for his ex girlfriend (they just broke up).

Unless he's totally clueless he'll get the message. But you should be aware that you might lose this guy from your life completely after you let him know things aren't going to become romantic. If he's seriously interested in you romantically/sexually, he won't be interested in being "just friends" with you and will most likely move on and stop talking to you.

It's better for both of you if you get this out of the way as soon as possible. Yeah it sucks losing a friend but you can't REALLY be friends if you want different things from each other. It just doesn't work. Let him know that you are a dead end (romance-wise) so he can get over you and pursue someone else. Eventually you might be able to be just friends but that requires some time apart so he can let his romantic feelings for you die and/or hopefully meet someone else.
